Hello… As you can see by my creative user name, my name is Mark. I bought a 07 RX8 Grand Touring out of the showroom last Xmas. I was drunk, literally. For 2 years I had batted around getting a Z and decided one day to drive an RX8… I loved it. I am from the DC area and there are as many Z’s as Accords there. So more then anything the sheer uniqueness of the RX8 won me over. The way it drove and comfort was also a factor. I had planned on trading in my Infinity G20, but am glad I kept it. I didn’t do my homework on gas mileage and oil consumption on an RX8. At the end of the day (in my opinion) it is a better second car. The lack of power in its class didn’t affect my choice. However… as it seems like most of us do. (I have been reading the forums for some time) I do want to do a few things to the car to boost power and make it unique.

I am a recovering alcoholic (6 mos sober today) and the car has kind of turned into a new outlet for my obsessive behavior. Thankfully I was layed off, moved 5 hrs south in the mountains, and only get 400 a week now from the govt or I would have dumped a fortune in this thing without knowing really how to drive it. I am learning. The car sucked in the city but in these mountains it is a blast.

All I did in DC to it was put blue LED’s throughout and bump it into curbs. (See alcoholic above)

Now I want to do the usual inexpensive deal… Here are my ideas. I have already bought the Injen intake despite what most have said about them. QUOTE: “If I did not track my car I would probably stay with the Injen because I REALLY like the sound. Sometimes, sound matters.” I am inline with SilverEIGHT’s take on this. It also looks the best and I am openly honest when I say the bling factor matters with me. Now what I haven’t bought is this and would like ideas or input.

-Megan Racing exhaust – I want to get rid of the CAT and have it shoot flames. For $650 it comes with the midpipe and catback exhaust. Or is it worth it to spend more on say an Agency mid and get whatever exhaust. It seems to me it’s just sound preference and they all give the same minimal gain.
-New Bumper – that was one thing I did damage while drinking. My budget is tight but it seems to fix the old and repaint would be the same price as buying an aftermarket (on the low end) and paint. Something a bit flashier (love the veil v1) but again… price.
-SUB- I like the stock system but would like a little more on the low end. Kenwood makes a powered sub that fits in the dip in the trunk. I want to be able to fit golf clubs in the back but I am not even sure if you would hear this over the existing system. I even considered cutting a port in the compartment that opens for skis and adding a grill. Has anyone tried this? if i covered it with plexi and added lights it may even look cool.

I wasn’t sure where to post this as I am asking for advice on some things but more then anything wanted to introduce myself. I like the forums and look forward to being a member. And having a car that shoots flames…
