I purchased an ignition set from Mazmart; OEM coils (latest version), NGK plugs and wires. My previous set (all OEM) had about 35,000 miles on them so even though the car was running great, I took the advice of some folks on here and decided to replace. After doing the work, and I can assure you that everything is installed correctly, the car now has a noticeably rougher idle, which also has an occasional fluctuation in RPM. Driving the car, acceleration, etc., feels fine; no missing or loss of power. Do you think it sounds like something is not quite right with the new parts? If so, are any of the three parts more likely to cause this sort of problem? Just hoping for some ideas on where to start. Thanks.

 

A good start would be a message to me, but, I can help you here in public as well. Is the engine light coming on or flashing? Did you do anything else at the same time? The order of the coils is L1, T1, L2, T2. Check connections again (I know, you said you are sure).

If it is any of the components we sold causing a problem I will replace them quickly.

I bet he unhooked the battery and now his fuel trims are reset.

I'll bet the plug wires L/T are mixed.

 

Hey Paul, definitely not pointing any fingers. Things happen sometimes and it's nobody's fault. Just trying to find the cause.
I have no engine light, and the only things done at this time are the components of the ignition set mentioned above.
The battery was not unhooked.
I have checked the wires from coil to plug several times. If you numbered the coils 1 - 4 from front to back, 1 is going to bottom front, 2 is going to top front, 3 is going to bottom rear, 4 is going to top rear.
If this sounds correct, I'm still puzzled as to what would be causing it.

 

make sure the plug wires are "click" into the actual spark plugs

funny things happen when it's not.

 

Wires are securely on the plugs. Everything seems to be in the correct place. Did a thorough look around the engine to make sure everything was connected also. Starting to think it really must be something to do with the newly installed parts.
