A new hitch thread...

I did quite a bit of searching, and found some threads, but nothing actionable.

I want to find a hitch to put on my 8 so I can pull my motorcycle around. No, I don't want to buy an ugly truck to load my Ducati into, and I wouldn't have space to keep the truck anyway.

Anyone found a hitch worth looking into? I'll have about 500 pounds behind the 8 all-in.

I don't have any experience with these, but here's one.

I saw those as well. I was hoping someone may have purchased and installed one and could comment on effectiveness and installation. Pictures even if we're lucky.

man why not just get a vehicle meant to tow. even a $1000 minivan would be better imo

i personally think it would look bad *** to have a white ducati behind a black RX-8. I get the "it's a sports car and isn't made for towing", but seriously, I could tow a motorcycle if you strapped a shoulder harness on me.

i admit say towing your bike behind the 8 would be kinda fun. I mean wherever your destination is you would have both the 8 and the ducati to play with

If it is the type where you drill the floorpan in the trunk, there were some problems with those early on. People using them developed cracks in the floorpan around where the bolts went through. I don't think even the remote possibility of that is worth it, myself.

depending on what motor cycle, i would say you could use the stock eye hooks, and ghetto rig something (not serious on last part)

if you've got like a 300 400 lb monster you could tow it on the eye hooks i'm pretty sure.

350lb 848 WOOP! I'll take a look at that. I'd rather have something more efficient though.

My dad towed our 17' boat with his 75' Trans Am until our truck arrived to Hawaii. But it had a solid rear end and a 400 ci motor.

I wish my 8 had a hitch, because my 8 and my bike match. I say do it.

i say just ride that motorcycle around!

okay, more seriously, if you move quite frequently or are serious into track days or something where you really need both vehicles i could understand it trailer - i've moved a few times recently and my truck has been nice for easily getting my bike along with. if it is a once every year or two thing i would find another way like renting a truck.

Since they are extended stays (2 weeks-ish) it's cheaper to get a hitch and trailer than to rent a truck and buy a ramp!
