Urggg PPl hating the 8.
Ok so this is somewhat of a rant. On another forum i used to frequent, I decided to post up pics and show the rest of the community what my life had moved to from gopeds. So i have a couple people being chill and commenting, and I explain how the handling makes up for the somewhat underpowered engine and some guy decides to start hating, saying him and some friends went to a track and they drove an 8 and how horrible at handling, low speed etc. So yeah I back my stuff up saying how it would beat GTI, SI 0-60 and the handling is amazing. Another guy jumps in showing me the quarter mile times GTI vs 8. The Gti was .3 seconds faster and the guy was on my side about the other guy being a dick, because those are pretty comprable times. Anyway it just pisses me off to see people hating on a nice car saying how bad they suck. blah blah blah /rant. Oh and yes i used to be a goped enthusiast and despite people thinking its stupid, it taught me some responsibility with buying my own stuff in terms of the value of the dollar etc.

95% of people in car message boards are fanboys.
Usually, when another car gets brought up in a car forum, it usually goes something like...
Yeah, my _______ (insert relative, neighbor, or friend) has a _______ (insert car other than theirs), and they tell me they wish they would've gotten my car.
or
I went and test drove a _______, and it's way overrated. I would never trade my car in for that POS.
or my favorite
Sure, it's pretty ________ (fast, good handling, practical... etc), but I need something that is/can _________ (the one or two attributes, usually pointless, that their car has over the car they're discussing).
Real car enthusiasts on the board usually just laughs and keeps it to themselves, because with majority of the members being fanboys, they just start flaming any positive comments given to the car.
This board isn't much better than others though.

People will always and forever find stuff to whine about.
Then some people will say stuff just to be jerks.
You should buy your own car based on you and not just to fit in with a bunch of sheep-people. Or to find approval from people.
IMO the 8 is a good car at the end of the day.
Are others cars faster? Always.
But that does not mean that the 8 is now trash. That is unless you drank the kool-aid.
If you don't like the 8 [not saying you] cool but don't like it for your own reasons and not because someone told you what to think.
I mean over on the S2000 forums some people whine that that car is slow....
The Mustang is slow....
G35's are slow....
Genesis Coupes are slow....
The Speed6 is slow...
This is all stuff that I've heard people crying about. Freaking school girls...
Whatever.

You bought the rx-8 cause you liked it. Had you wanted a GTI, you would have bought one. Who cares?
My Evo was faster and handled better(the 8 is currently in stock form) and I miss that, but it rode like crap, had little things wrong with it, and the cost to own was much higher.
I'm happy with my car.

A lot of people can't see beyond magazine numbers and time slips. You can make any car fast, but that does not make it a good car. Don't listen to the haters. The auto experts who write car reviews seem to universally agree that the 8 is one of the finest sports cars around, so think on that next time some kid driving his mom's Camry starts talking trash about the 8.
Just smile at the ignorance and keep quiet, that's what I usually do.

i noticed that MOST, notice that i said MOST EVO owners talk a lot of **** about the 8. like this kid in my class has a EVO and every time he walks in he has to say something about the 8. and ignoring him just pissed him off but later he was complimenting it on how good it handles and how he was going to buy the 8 but then decided to buy the evo for more power...

If we all spent time arguing with people online about their car versus our car, versus the other car, and whatnot, we'd have no time left, no matter what car we drive - an 8, a Corvette, a Porsche, a 350Z, a Mustang - whatever.
There's always some car that's faster, better handling..
You're even seeing the phenom with fuel economy now, hybrid v hybrid, hybrid v diesel, etc.
People always have to have something to argue about.
In the end, the only thing that matters is that the car you drive is the right choice for you.
Besides, 90% of people that are haters of any specific car can't even afford a new subcompact. I've noticed this phenomenon on the interwebs. If they admit what they drive, it's usually a 1998 neon or something - the really loud mouthed ones.

Bro, please learn to write in english. I don't want to be an ***, but I had to reread your post a few times to get the meaning.
Yes if the 8 was a good bit lighter the 0-60, 1/4 mile times would get better.

It's not the car. It's the driver.
I'm not Michael Schumacher, Neither is anyone I'll ever drive against on a track or at an autocross.
More importantly then that though, I love my 8 and I love driving it. The numbers people quote simply aren't relevant.
If you absolutely have to say something to the haters, tell them you dont care how fast it is, It's about how much fun you have driving it. How are they going to argue with that?

The more **** people talk about somesone else's car, the more ignorant they look and sound.
Honestly, how much speed can you use??? How fast can you actually go?
Just about any modern car can out 0-60 almost if not most of the so called " muscle cars"
Big Deal. Driving is all about using ALL of your senses, not just the one's attached to your *****.

I've had quite a few people hate on my car and tell me about how slow it is and how much oil it drinks and how bad the gas mileage is, etc, etc... Then they always ask me "Why would you want an RX8?" and I always answer with a smile "Because I like it, it makes me happy." Then I drive away still smiling as they sulk back to their Neon, focus, blazer, etc.
