I think we are talking about 2 different things. You are, I believe, talking about the low beams which you are 100% correct in your interpretation. We were talking about the high beams. This is a separate bulb that is meant to light the whole area in front of the car and has no optical cut offs. It is this bulb that we are wondering if it could be switched to HID and prove effective. The main concern I have is often a high beam is lite only for a few seconds so would a HID, which needs a warm up time be a good choice here.

I don't know if the throw pattern for the low beam changes when the high beams are hit, so maybe it was this that you were referring to.

Well frank502lin it's hard to buy anything these days that isn't made in China. If you don't expect to pay over $100 these would be an alternative, though there are cheaper ones on ebay. From what I understand, Bosche never made conversion kits because they are illegal in some places??? Still need verification. Then it becomes apparent there are kits available in china with Bosche and there's a website and everything. Im confused *scratches head* though.

Raptor75, there is a kit that has both Hi/low beams on ebay. in theory when you flip between hi/low beams the ballast should already be energized and not have that long startup time. sounds like a winner.

I bought HID4U's kit, I've had it for over a year now with no problems what so ever.
