New Guy from Muskogee/Tulsa OK
Hello, i've been creeping around on the forums for several weeks now and figured it's time for an intro. . . Name's Josh, and i live in Muskogee, and i am not a proud owner of an RX-8 ... :-/ yet. Bout 2 years back when i took my Mazda 3 hatchback in for warrenty work they loaned me an RX-8 for the week, and i got bit by the rotary bug... I hadn't driven a rotary before, and had only rode in a friends RX-7. Well now i am finally in a position to buy a new car and am seriously coinsidering an RX-8. I've been reading over everything on here and am having the local dealership look into finding a car that i want. Anyways enough about me. Lookin foward to meeting everyone, and hopefully joining the ranks w/ an RX-8 of my own!

Not Particular on color, i WANT a MT but will GET an AT due to the wife not being able to drive a MT. I've got the Mazda dealer looking for an 05+ with leather/moon roof package. The one i drove was a base level black one.

PLEASE do not get a AT if you really want a MT. Seriously this car needs a MT to enjoy every spec of power. The AT is fun and all nothing against it. But if your going to purchase it wanting a manual trans but settling for a auto there will always be this gap that you will have whenever you drive the car no matter what.
And teach your wife how to drive stick. It will make her a better driver in the long run. And it could become a fun alone time with your wife, if you haven't had one of those days in a while. Unless your wife is physically unable to drive a stick then I can agree with purchasing an auto because of the fact.

I've coinsidered that adam, and personally wouldn't care one way or the other. For me, a stick would be fun, but not as practical for my daily life, which is why i would prefer a AT i think...

Honestly I dont see a problem with driving stick daily. Everyone says its not practical because really the only non practical part is traffic. Even then its not really bad at all...
I guess if your over the age of 50 i can understand. But even then if you were that age you have probably driven stick for many years, it comes as 2nd nature.

Which is True, and i'm well under the age of 50 lol. Honestly it will come down to pricing and what they find for me.
on a side note - An RX-8 with high 30's to low 50's thousand miles - what services should be done to it? I'm going to make the dealership have the 50,000 mile service done if the car's in that range.

Well, they called me with a 2004 RX8 black on black leather, with moon roof, has 39,xxx miles, but she said it's listed at almost 15grand. I'm going to try to go look at it today or tomorrow, she also said they have several coming in next week also.

Thanks for the info man! I'm not in a huge hurry to buy one. I've talked to several users around the nation that have some listed for sale, including a local guy from owasso. But i need to sell my jeep before i can buy another car.
I saw someone in Bixby/tulsa tonight by Hideaway pizza that had a blacked out RX8 with aftermarket exhaust and LED tails that was pretty sharp.

Having spent a couple days in your area last summer, I can say I would NOT own any sort of sportscar, or any modified vehicle that was not a jacked up *** 4x4 out there. F*CK BRO your roads are tore all to ****. There were literally some BONE JARRING impacts just driving along a normal road in Tulsa. I bet the tire and alignment shops make a freaking killing out there.
I drove my Denali out there. Good thing I took the 24's off before I went. Put my 20's with the "fat" tires on, and I was still worried about tearing something up. I parked at walmart and rode with my friend in a fullsize chevy 4x4, and it still felt like the interior was going to come apart as we went down the road. I am confident that any vehicle with less than 2" of tire sidewall would end up with bent rims.
I'm not saying TN is the most awesome place to live in the country, but how do you people bear that ****? I could only find 91 and no E85 either. It was like modified car hell.

Lol, oklahoma does not have the best roads, but having lived in other states their not that horrible. I had a 96 Tbird that had 1.5 inches of ground clearance for 2 years. You just have to pay attention. (And on a side note - with the car that much lowered i still would of pitted it against any Luxo car in ride quality) A Stock RX-8 has 4.5'' of gc. My Stock Jeep Compass has 6'' of gc. not that much more... Must say ive been to tennessee, and at least the highways are smooth. You get off the main highways (esp. around Murpheysburough sp) and the roads remind me of here.
