New Flash ROCKS!

I just receive a new Flash for my baby and I'm impressed!
While it still pretty much runs smooth as always.
( No real power gains)
The mileage went up from my usual 17.5-18.0 to an almost shocking 20MPG!!
Ok It's not that impressive, but hey, we are talking RX-8 here!
And it's FREE!
My driving is 30% city 70 % highway. 87 Octane most of the time.
Mileage 32000 mls.
BTW my mileage on track days is 7!! )
(But so worth it!)
Anywho, this was at Rosen Mazda in Waukegan, IL.
I'll try to find out what the number is! Gotta find the receipt!
Just thought I'd pass this on!

Tell us your mileage in 2 weeks.

Ecu resets can cause similar results.

Not trying to rain on your parade or anything.

70% highway....I would expect at least 20 mpg. I'm getting 19 mpg on my '04, 80% city driving, and redline often.

My mileage used to be about 17.5 or so, but I recently got the new spark plugs and battery, so I guess the ECU reset made my mileage go up. I'm also using cruise control more often.

I meant the new spark plugs from Mazda under warranty, to help prevent flooding. You can just ask for them. Whenever you unplug and plug the battery, the ECU resets.

What flash were you using before the reflash? What is the build date of your car. According to Zoom44 this flash addresses the MOP (Metered oil pump).

Thumbs up No BS

It's a week later and my mileage is still better.
This is no BS.
My mileage when I bought the car was 15-16mpg. (5000mls on odo)
Than at about 9000 it started getting much better. 17-18mpg.
It has been consistently at 16.8-17.8.
I usually commute the same route to work.
Some buzzing to 9K some shortshifting and cruising as well.
I've had 5 or 6 flashes. None ever affected the mileage much.
reset ecu, battery disconnects never affected my car!
Except maybe the first one which I believe was J or K.
Don't know factory flash. I now have 32000 miles on it.
Reflash in 2004 # N3H6-188881M (brought in for a CEL)
A couple of month ago I got the fueltank blanket recall with the flash.
(No change)Receipt says RECALL 3305g, REFLASH PCM xxB72R2

3 weeks ago I had a problem with a funny noise (loose sparkplug wire)
and brought it in for a free replacement tailight (Yes left side)
At this time they also flashed it and that's the first time I've ever hit 20mpg.
Receipt says PCM reflash Part number: N3 ZD-18-881
I changed my driving to see if it's still good if I beat on it a little)
StIll 19.7mpg, not bad for me!
Flooded only once (Nov 2005, sparkplugs free per TSB#01-011/04)
I hope this helps.
I wonder if anybody else received this flash yet?
Any how,
Blue R- I'd love to see you at Road America
First I'm going to Autobahn on Aug 14th.
Much better suited for the RX-8)

Spelling error

Dominion,
I'm not trying to be a smartass but
When quoting German please use correct spelling

Lass miss deine Träne reiten übers Kinn nach Afrika ?
It's actually:

Lass mich deine Träne reiten übers Kinn nach Afrika

BTW where's that quote from?

Sehnsucht
Lass mich deine traene reiten
Uebers kinn nach afrika
Wieder in den schoss der loewin
Wo ich einst zu hause war
Zwischen deine langen beinen
Such den schnee vom letzten jahr
Doch es ist kein schnee mehr da

Lass mich deine traene reiten
Ueber wolken ohne glueck
Der grosse vogel schiebt den kopf
Sanft in sein versteck zurueck
Zwischen deine langen beine
Sucht den sand vom letzten jahr
Doch es ist kein sand mehr da

Sehnsucht versteckt
Sich wie ein insekt
Im schlaf merkst du nicht
Dass es dich sticht
Gluecklich werd ich nirgendwo
Der finger rutscht nach mexico
Doch er versinkt Im ozean
Sehnsucht ist so grausam
Sehnsucht

I doubt that, it would have done that on the last 5 flash occasions and it didn't!

I think that his mileage increase had more to do with the loose plug wire which has now been repaired. I bet that he was running with inconsistent spark on one rotor.

I doubt that too, since the loose plug wire happened for just about a week.
My plugs had also been changed before and it had no effect on MPG!!!
The plug wire could not have been loose for a year and a half!
Get real!

Sweet, my gas mileage on my first tank pure highway was 25 mpg at 65 mph windows up and no a/c at night. Does that mean by 10,000 miles it'll go up to 30 highway

BTW I drive 75 city 25% highway and I'm averaging right at 20 mpg combined at 3100 miles currently.
