I just called my Mazda dealership here in town becuase I have a CEL. The technician who was VERY helpfull told me that a Software Engineer from Japan in coming to the dealership and is installing a "P" flash that in his words was the Big Daddy of all flashes. He says that this flash IS going to up the horsepower, drivability and gas milage all in one. He says that the Engineers are coming to the US specially to install this flash. Sound like we might get back the 248HP we were promised.

P for POWER = Wishfull thinking.

It appears the the P Flash is targeted towards A/C.......

 

Call me skeptical. A thread concerning the "P" flash has been going on in the Tech Garage for quite some time, and the consensus seems that this flash was designed to help regulate the A/C compressor under acceleration and not much more. That's not to say we don't hope to see additional benefits as more becomes understood about the flash. But so far it's not the answer.

I don't know about the 'Big Daddy' moniker- seems more like the N flash's 'Little Brother'!

 

sounds like this very helpful technician is skilled in the art of talking-out-of-ones-***.

 

I'll believe it when I see it....BUT, if it is true, that would be huge. The horsepower would be nice but not a necessity to me (I am not track or street racing, so what I get stock is plenty), but improving the mpg would be awesome.
