For those of you that are getting engine ping theres a new reflash coming out in about 2 weeks that suppose to fix pinging.

My check light is on now and if this info is true i'll wait 2-3 weeks.

Any more info. on the details of what it will do? Glad I don't have the RB reflash...

 

i have the RB flash and dont have knock issues- so why would you be glad to not have it?

 

I'm not "knocking" the RB flash. I just would hate to have to flash over it when this new flash comes out and then go back and get it re-flashed. I'm just paranoid about having the latest flash for the car.

 

I think you're confused shaun. unless you're having issues with the RB flash there's no reason reflash the latest mazda flash. And you shouldnt get the newest flash if you plan on reflashing to RB cause the RB flash would replace all info on the newest flash so it wouldnt change anything.

 

Well that's why I wanted to know more about how they were going to reduce pinging. Is it going to be with different fuel maps that would make the car run richer or pull more timing or something else that Racing Beat will not be touching. My understanding is they (RB) only change the redline, fan settings, and fuel/timing maps. They leave the rest alone. I don't believe it's a complete reflash like the dealer would perform that overwrites everything.

zoom hasnt indicated that he doesnt know about it at all... in fact, if he hadnt heard of it, I'd expect him to dispute the OP which he isnt. Until he specifically says something about it, I'm going to have to believe that the OP is probably correct

 

Plus someone could randomly post that there will be a new reflash for the RX-8 soon and odds are they will be correct if you just wait a couple months
