New engines and gas mileage
So I've had my new engine for about 2000 miles. I'm getting dramatically better gas mileage, about 50 miles to a tank. I seem to remember a time with the old engine when mileage seemed to drop off and I wasn't getting the mileage I had previously.
I've seen many posts about people getting 260-280 miles per tank. (some claiming 310, these are the guys that also claim to get 40,000 miles out of their tires). I'm now hitting 260. I was getting as low as 185-200 with the old engine. At best 215.
So I'm wondering if poorer than average mileage is seen commonly with engines that fail. Or if that can be a predictor of premature failure in the rotary. Has there been any link or has anyone else whos engine has failed had a similar experience?

I also never use my car for short hops or full city driving.
Even when I had a shorter commute (10 miles each way in city) I was still getting over 300 (minimal lights and stops)
I am also not a jack rabbit starter...which is where you waste tons of fuel...

well I have no need to drive crazy all the time either. Also some what hard to do with the roads I drive to and from work on. can't do much on a one lanes road with no passing options and bumper to bumper traffic, among other traffic situations that are not worth the aggravation of being caught doing something stupid in.

I thought that was the term for people who just punch the gas to the floor every time they start moving. So like you are at a red light and it turns green and they just floor it because, all the time. You probably see tons of people do this daily but just don't think twice about it.

Ignorant? Probably not the topic for this forum, but if you can't see the obvious Marxist leanings in his writings, policies, and Czar appointments, you're just not paying attention. As far as educated, its certainly true that its possible to be educated beyond one's intellect, but it would be difficult to be more educated than I have been.

Yeah, there are 3 or 4 of us now. We hold secret meetings.
I can take the sig down since its hurting people's feelings. Never let it be said that conservatives aren't sensitive and compassionate.
There. All better.

Yeah your right in NOVA the worst place in the U.S to drive. I sware VA drivers are the dumbest...
I drive on 50 west/east everyday on the MD side. Traffic is always moving 80+, unless there is someone from VA infront driving 60mph in the fast lane that wont move over so 20 ppl have to cut in a out of traffic to get around... I seriously hate VA drivers with a passion. /rant
But when you have no control with b2b traffic and one lane roads then your benefit is better gas mileage . But I was thinking someone would only shift 3k or lower and drive slower than 70mph all the time, even if they had an open twisty road ahead with no traffic and not a person in sight. If someone drove an rx8 shifting at 3k on a twisty with no traffic. I'd ban them from their car and tell them to get a civic. .
