New and confused
My wife and I just bought a 2005 RX-8 and love it. However, we're new of course, to both the motor, and the interior features.
Do we need a navigation disk (from Mazda) to use the Nav? The screen has the mazda logo and "Can not read disk" on the screen.
Is there a add-on module or something to use the nav/dvd rom as a movie player?
And lastly (at the moment), is there a trick to using the climate control? My wife says it's a hit and miss with getting it to defrost and heat up. There's an "Ambient" button...

Where are you located? (we don't have the auto climate control here in the states)
As for the Nav, look where the rear cupholders are and you'll notice that behind them there is a compartment that opens. Inside you'll find a DVD player that should have a Nav disc in it. Unfortunately it cannot play movies.

I'm in Oregon City, OR, and thought I did have climate control, because when I press "Ambient" it shows temperature. Maybe it just displays what it is inside....
The DVD player in rear didn't have a nav disk. It had a "Mazda RX-8 Product Update" disk, which was a nifty little overview DVD (That didn't play in the car of course
).

Can't answer the Nav questions, as I don't have one mine myself.
The "ambient" button toggles the outside temperature display in the upper-right corner of the display.
And the defrost seems to work just fine on my '04 - maybe check your cabin filter?
Also as a very pedantic side note, a motor is an electrical device, whereas the engine is what you're meaning to refer to.
