need some help rx8 fellows

so my rx8 needs a new engine still stuck on which route to take.. im either looking at cam with pettit racing to rebuild but thats all the way in flordia and im in socal. Ive talked with mazda and they want $1932 for labor $4400 for the engine and $500 for misc parts 112yr 12,000 mile warranty.. they also said they can do 10% off. so were looking at about $6200 or something around there. i like the warranty but not the price. do you guys recommend alternative routes. maybe dropping a LS ?? need some ideas

thanks
