Can anyone recommend cheap-yet-reliable plugs that I can get fast (ie by thursday). I'm coming in for my 30k service and I don't want to pay $75 a piece. I figure I could just hand them to the guy and have him install em.

I'd do it myself but I'm under warranty and want to keep up a good service record.

I'd prefer to pick em up in a store (ie auto zone) and not buy online

It says 25K on the bottom of your mesg.....if your FI it would be a good time to change. You should be able to get an easy 10K more miles on them if your NA and running smooth.

 

try your local auto parts store, i usually go to oreilly and order them. They have the parts guy drop the plugs of the next day.

 

Just to let you know, they are going to charge you out the butt for labor installing it, I know you want to keep a good service record, but i did mine myself using a "DIY" and it was quite simple and my 8 runs smooth.

As far as getting the plugs go to autozone or pepboys and give them make and model and usually 2 to 4 brand names come up, pick the one that has the most credibility such as bosch is a well known plug company(i.e) good luck

 

Stay with the OEM(NGK)....you will never be sorry!

Yup, likely charge you for 30 minutes of labor (though it will take them like 10-15 min max). Not sure what that dealer charges but i bet labor will be no less than an extra $40-$50. Even if u have NO tools, you could buy everything u need (ie. jack stands, ratchet w/ spark plug socket) and still be under that amount. Plugs can be changed anywhere (apt complex, parking lots) and it is a simple DIY.

I suggest you PM Charles R. Hill. He's a vendor here, has an excellent reputation, and will sell you the right plugs without you having to figure it out for yourself. And at a price as good as anyone else.

Found em on amazon for ~$15 a piece. I can't believe the dealer gets away with charging $75!!! They should be arrested for such extortion. bastids..

Shipping is fast price is dirt cheep. I have have bought 2 sets from them with no issues what so ever.

 

I just ordered. Do you think they will be dicks and refuse to install because I'm brining my own parts? I swear if they pull that bs I'll be furious.

That and I'll need to find a local rx8club'er in the athens, ohio area to help me out. I'd even pay the labor price the dealership would charge.

But for now let me cross my fingers and hope the dealership does it for me (still trying to keep a good service record)

 

I flew down to DC from canada and picked up plugs coils and wires. (plugs were 126 for the set)... so for the price of the plane ticket and staying a week, it was still cheaper then if i bought all the parts in canada

Changing them was pretty easy, though i had to take my shoe off and use my foot on the ratchet to get 2 of them out (couldn't get enough leverage with my hands)
