SPORTY, Red Mazda RX8 2004

How much should I Offer considering its a reman engine. And should even considering buying an 04 8 with an reman engine? I talked to her and she seems to have all the maintenance records. Any ideas would be helpful.

 

get a comp test. some remans were not great builds. you should be able to get it for a little less. before buying an 8 read the stickies/new owners thread so you know what to expect

 

Price seems firm with a reman engine. Before buying it, get a compression test and test drive the car. Get the feel of it and get a Carfax report. You may not get all the reports on the Carfax, but at least you know what's going on with it. Good luck if you decide to choose this car.

 

Would it be better to just try to go for an 06 model or higher to avoid any issues.

 

Newer is usually better. Either way you're buying a 6 to 8 year old sports car, so don't don't expect the experience to be risk-free. As the other guys have said, get a compression test and a Carfax. Have a mechanic check it over. Look at the maintenance records. Pretty much what you should do when buying any used car other than a beater.
