well i agree that it should be 1.3L, but in my registration it is down as a 2.6L.
it would be great if it was classified as 1.3L then i'd get the cheaper car tax, but because the emissions are not as low as a 1.3L, they classify it as a 2.6L.

i was wondering could particle filters, that some diesel cars use to lower emissions
be employed in some fashion to help lower the emissions?

Yeah, but you see, it's still fucked up. Mine is classified as 1,3 litre, because that's what it is. Obviously the deciding people on the british isles are stupid

Well, there's the cat...

lol, the deciding people (government) on the british isles are not stupid, just greedy for money, as i pay road tax, depending on the tax bracket the car falls into.

therefore the rx8 is classified as a gas guzzler and costs for my 2004, £210 a year.
just to drive on lumpy, bumpy roads i might add. anyone that has a new rx8 wil have to shell out £440 odd for the year, but thats our great Labour government, who tell us all to drive low emmision slow bubble cars, while they spin about in range rovers and jags!

i was reading that some of the new diesel cars use CATS and particle filter technology to lower emissions.

if the engine is only a 1.3L, then emissions should be low, and i know the way the rotary works etc, i was just wondering if mazda could employ some sort of additional particle filter technology which would assist the CAT in lowering the emissions more, without affecting the HP.

this would really make the rx8 which was britain's best selling sports car the last few years, more desiring, as it would be cheaper to tax each year.

the sales guy i bought my car off rang to see how things were going, and told me that my 8 would not loose that much in depreciation, as it is cheaper to tax than the younger models.
