Hey, i recently bought an 04 RX-8, but it did not come with the sunroof or navigation. How much would it cost to buy the navigator and how much would it be to install it?
Thank you,
Sean

The cost of the purchase and install would be more money and time than it's worth. If you had the option, you should have bought the car that had one. The Nav is installed at the factory so the dealer can't do it. Your best bet is to buy a good hand held one. It will have more up to date map and probably better features.

Transam,
The unit alone will cost you about $3,000 since there are very few floating around. PLUS the install requires a new harness and its a royal P.I.T.A.
I believe someone on the forum did this but not sure if it was worth all the time or $$
Installing a sunroof shouldn't be too bad though. I'd do a search and see if you can find others who've done it.

Although the built in Nav is nice, I'd rather have one of the portables that gets updated maps. I bought a 2004 and it came with maps 2 years out of date. Mazda and the map company finally got their differences resolved and now I'm being offered the special deal of paying only $150 (vs $200) for maps that are 6 months out of date.

Ugh I'll stick with my 2001-2002 map dvd. Damn you NavTech! (and Mazda if they have anything to do with it).
