To my own stupidity: Much harm done?
This being my first car with a manual transmission. I ran first gear to about like 6krpm or a lil more. Then shift into 4th. I have heard a grinding, to now my knowledge realizing that, 1st to 4th is too big a jump. Any severe damage done? Only done this 4 times or so.
Hopefully the damage is minimal to the car and only to my ego

Are you doing it on purpose? As long as you can still go into gear without grinding when you shift NORMALLY, I would suspect the damage is minimal. But I'm no transmission guru. When shifting from 1st you want to pull the shifter down and towards you, not just strait back.

I do a 1st to 2nd to 6th shift pattern quite often. As long as you don't try to shift really fast on the 1 to 4 shift (you're skipping gears anyway, what's the rush?) it shouldn't be a problem. If it persists I would stop trying to do it though
My guess would be that you didn't quite have the clutch fully disengaged when it happened, although I've had grinding problems on my tranny on high RPM shifts from 1st to 2nd when the pedal was on the floor, so who knows.
EDIT: Could be that your 4th gear synchros are on their way out the door and can't handle the bigger RPM drop. How old is the car?

Yeah, I have an 2004.
I mean I've always known downshifting was not good to miss gears.
I was driving the car around. There's no problem getting in and out of gears.

eh I dropped my car into 2nd gear at around 100mph once, the tach goes way past 10K BTW. that was at like 20K miles, and I've done another 55K since then without any problems at all.

Yeah thanks guys. I mean its something I don't plan on doing anymore. lol. I talked to one person who made it seem like the world's gonna end. I thought to myself that transmissions should be able to take a beating. We are human we make mistakes right?

you should be fine, just be careful not to down shift too quickly. No real need to skip gears though

If you go to fourth from first at like 9k rpms, I've noticed a good chance of grinding the gear a little bit. Just take it easy shifting down, and you'll be fine.

Upshifting 1 to 4 should be harmless. Make sure your clutch is all the way down and don't force it. maybe take a bit of time for the revs to drop before trying to shift into fourth.
Downshifting would absolutely have to be double clutched and rev matched.
