My first week with the "8"
On my first fill-up I was also surprized by the fuel cap. They should have come up with something better. I expected a 6 CD changer. Sad to find the single disc installed. I never even knew that there was an option. I ordered Jan. 20th. Pre-Orders should have gotten some special consideration.
MPG has me a little concerned. I got 245 for the first tank but that's all city driving.
The power and handleing are great. My biggest grip is the height of the windowsill for driving with my arm out the window. Maybe I've grown too used to my previous Miata.
The center console works great. The power outlet for cell phone is well designed. The width of the storage should have been made wide enough to hold CD jewel boxes. The door pockets easily accomidate a CD storage book.
I'm finding the BOSE sound system excellent. The streeing wheel controls work perfectly, especially the mute button. The CD player has yet to skip. I still wish I had been made aware of the MP3/cassette option during my very long pre-order wait.
I was surprized by the darkness of the Nordic Green I ordered but I really like my choice.

I cant believer they charge for the Bose stereo in the US and then charge for the 6CD on top!
Would have thought the 6CD changer is PART of the Bose.

Forget the 6 Disc and get the MP3 player. I ordered mine from http://www.trussvillemazda.com/ and it came in yesterday. It's maybe an hours worth of work but you'll save about $400 if you DIY.

Fuel mileage sounds about right, just remember this is a sports car Fuel mileage will always suffer because of that. Anytime you think it's bad, just think about the FD with the 13B-REW. 18mpg highway was something to brag about.

The MP3 player does come with instructions. They seem pretty good and appear to be targeted at end users. Unfortunately, my RX-8 isn't here yet, though, so I don't know if there are any surprises in store.
