yes - Sell it. Buy a mid 90s Honda Accord...drive that until you get some experience.

if you have your temps, and are still a novice driver, just practice driving. Read up on the manual, know what to do and what not to do (i.e. dont shut the engine off cold). and BE SAFE!

i agree alpha was sincerely helpful in his post and i mean to be ion this post as well- please read the manual cover to cover. remember as much of it as you can. pay particular atention to what the warnign lights mean on teh dash, what it says about checking your oil and what it says about cold starts. learn how to properly read your dipstick, check your tire pressure and compute your gas mileage. make sure someone starts AND drives the car every couple of days until you can. dont let them just start it and then shut it down. learn where all the nooks and crannies are. do you have the nav? if so spend some time getting to know it and understand how to use it. set your pre set channels on your stereo check out rotaryillustrated.com so you understand what is under the hood. tons and tons off stuff to learn while you wait:D

Buy a Porter Cable 7424 Random Orbit Polisher and some good pads and polish the crap out of it. www.autopia.org is very helpful.

If your not going to drive it I suggest draining all the fluids out, since its going to be a long while until you do. Or, have your mom or dad take the car out at least once a week. Good luck.

congradualtions on the car, your gonna love it! is it auto or manual? If it's manual, make sure to have someone experienced help you get the hang of it (if possible). And don't fail your driver's license test!

Go to zaino's website, order a kit, and spend a few days adding layers of zaino to the car, since it isnt getting driven.

Next pop off your wheels, using high temp paint (color of your choice) paint the brake calipers. Wax your wheels while they are off.

Read this website rx8club.com front to back, learn everything you can about what can (and probably will) go wrong during your ownership. Learn from those that have been there, and pay special attention to the threads about street racing and why not to do it.

Last, sit in your car and shift into all your gears, get used to finding them with no problems, especially if this is your first manual, I am thinking it is.

I think this sums it up. Hope I was of some help.

Enjoy your car, it is a priveledge to drive something like this as a first car, please, take care of it. My first was an 83 Camaro, and I babied it, and also worked daily to pay for it.
Oh yea, ditto with the school girl pictures, when you get them, post them here. :D

If it really is going to sit between now and April, I would suggest you do the following:
  • Add some fuel stabilizer for storage
  • Put it up on jackstands to take the load off the tires
  • Disconnect the battery
  • Open a window or the sunroof a crack.
The advice about reading the manual is GOOD advice... lotsa good stuff in there. Pay special attention to the section about avoiding flooding. Polishing the crap out of it is a good idea too.

The rest of the time between now and April, spend lots of time here on the forum reading and learning. You won't regret it.

And finally, calling folks douchebags is not a good way to start out here. The same thing could be said without insulting people.

Regardless, welcome to the forum, and RX-8 ownership. :D
