My Car: The Victim....my first accident (pictures included)

Two versions of the story, the long and short. The long took me longer to write, the short took a bit less time.....

LONG VERSION

My Car: The Victim
by Zvonimir Koscica

As I'm driving home from a pretty good day at work, I stop. Why do I stop? Well, there are 20 cars a head of me waiting at a red light. I remembered something I learned as a child, "red means stop!" So I'm at a full stop so I go to reach for the radio to change the station when all of a sudden all my senses were awoken by a crash. My Black Beauty of a car was thrown about 6 inches and that is only because I actually had my foot on the brake since I was on a tiny slope. Otherwise, it could've ended up with me attached to the guy in front of me as well. Turns out the guy in back of me was at a full stop as well when some Old Demonic Lady rams him from behind. I pause and wait. The stand off begins! Who will leave their car first!? The hyper Old Demonic Lady still had some energy left over so she races out to try and explain how "I couldn't break! I tried but my tires slid!"
I calmly walk over to see the damage. I look at this Demon Witch and shake my head. This is not a shake of anger, this is a shake of pity. For I pitied the Demonic; lady because in her half century of life, she still did not know how to brake properly. I stood there perfectly calm, reaching for my gum. I begin to chew with a dry mouth of sorrow. A dry mouth is not a mouth to chew gum with, for it only makes your mouth drier. The man who was in the middle of the accident swore a bit and slammed the back of his car in a tiny fit of rage. I understood his sorrows but could not muster up the same amount of rage. The Sheriff soon arrived and settled the encounter. To make a long story short, the cop let us all go about 30 minutes into his encounter. The following are pictures of the consequences of letting grandmothers remain on the road.
The End

SHORT VERSION:

I was at a red light and the car that was two spots behind me pushed the car behind me into me....damn old lady! I don't think I was upset that much because I expected more when I saw it but was happy it didnt effect my lights and muffler.

Could have been much worse. Glad you're okay. It doesn't look like there would be any mechancial damage.

What kills me is I had my 1990 626 for almost 6 years...not an incident. I have this car for under 2 months and I'm a target

Time to go aftermarket and get a new bumper.

Some Old people and drunk people are bad, especially when on a 2-lane highway.

We did get some nasty rain today. I work in Ridgefield, NJ which is literally in the Meadowlands. Actually have to leave work early out of fear of being "flooded in." The area behind the lab I work at is all swamps... so when there is HEAVY rain, like today, I cut out early.

Well, it doesn't look too bad. Should be good as new once it's fixed. At least you stopped far enough behind the guy in front of you so that you didn't hit him too. People just don't realize how long it takes to stop when the road gets wet.

Same thing happened to me after i got my RX8, within a month of having it an old dude hit into me

He actually stopped behind me but must have been watching something else, he started going and hit into me

Be sure to run a hose over your boot before and after you get it back to make sure you have no leaks, especially in your taillights and the bottom compartment in the boot.

While driving my gf's 3 over the weekend we got rear ended by an 80 year old woman in a BMW. Traffic was at a dead standstill and somehow she just rolled right into us, completely oblivious. Thankfully there really wasn't any damage. I probably should have made a claim just to get her off the roads.

DUDE! thats not AS BAD AS MINES!
Last Friday i was driving and I hydroplan'd into a curb and my whole car went over the curb and onto the sidewalk into a parking lot.

My front got DESTORYED! Not the autobody just the rod that holds the 2 front wheels together..destroyed. And my 2 frotn tires, and 3 of the 4 of my rims are gone.

my Bumper is literally hitting the ground.

And when AAA came they grabbed my car and my car made a hugeee crackinto the sidewalk..while the drivers side front wheel was about to pop of.

I tryed to take pics of it but I couldn't cause the Mechanic yesterday took it away.

I am very mad. My mom said if the Insurance thinks I was doing Dohnuts or such they will not pay for it. I am mad about that.

Okay this is my first accident so does anyone know what I do next....? The cops filed the report and told me I could pick it up in two days from the station. Now do I call my insurance company and tell them what happened or wait for her insurance company to do the work and contact me or my ppl?

Don't wait for her insurance to contact you. Same thing happened to my folk's car. You can contact your insurance company and take it to get it fixed. Downside is that you'll have to pay the deductable until your insurance company gets her insurance company to pay back the cost of repair. Then they'll pay you the cost of the deductable. Note: this may take a while for them to sort out. If you both have the same insurance company then you pay nothing.

Or you can contact her insurance company if you have all of her information. This may be the way to go if you have that information and don't want to pay for the deductable and wait to get it reimbursed.

I would imagine the Demonic Lady got a citation for the accident - yes? Also how do multiple rear-end collisions work in NJ? In Washington the guy that hit you would be at fault even though he was sitting at the light stopped. The law here states that you should be far enough behind someone at the light/stop sign/whatever so that if someone rear ends you they don't push you into the next car.

If you can avoid it - DO NOT contact your insurance company. Even though this wasn't your fault it will appear on your driving record as an incident if your insurance company gets involved and pays for anything - even if they later get reimbursed by <whoevers> insurance company.

Contact the appropriate party's insurance company and tell them you want your car fixed ASAP. They should work with you on finding a shop that they use regularly in your general area. Hopefully they don't dick you around.

Ouch! Poor car. At least from the pictures it doesn't look extensively damaged. Definitely be calling your insurance company or you'll be waiting a long time.

In March I was in an accident, where I ended up being the last car of a car sandwich. The police ended up ruling it was the fault of the guy in front that caused it. Don't know exactly why since I never even saw that truck because an SUV was in front of me, driven by a lady on her cell phone (who gets out of her car still yelling at somebody on her cell phone and continuing to yell at whoever throughout the course of the police showing up and exchanging information, et cetera), who either didn't see the truck in front or something because witnesses said she slammed into him, and then as I came around the curve I hit on my breaks and skidded into her because there wasn't enough time or room to stop, which the police deemed an unavoidable accident and therefore no fault of mine (yay!). I'm not sure why truck #1 was responsible when SUV #2 hit him. Unfortunately for me, it also turned out the guy responsible had no insurance and a suspended license for having previously had no insurance, so it still cost me anyway.

I hope everything gets taken care of quickly for you.
