thatsucks glad it worked out ok. my HOA made me dig a drainage trench across my whole front yard so getting a car towed aint too bad. How did my land parcel passHOA insp from the 1st owner/builder before I bought it?

i would go to court. they cant come on to your property and tow your stuff without a subpoena from the courts.
In a condo, you don't actually own your property, you own a share of the entire development and have exclusive rights to use your portion. Not much different than an apartment except you build equity.

do us all a favor and get a lawyer and at least file a complaint citing safety and lack of clear interpretation of the rules and standards already in place. that its in the fine print **** doesn't hold up in court anymore.

Still check carefully that there are no damage, and if there is any damage you should look into if you can get compensation. If the rules specifically states your car gets towed it is one thing and not much can be done. However, if the rules don't clearly state towing then any damage was wrongfully caused and you should be reimbursed.

If the rules regarding working on the cars in the garage aren't IN WRITING, then you have every right to sue the HOA for the impound fee + any damages + the cost of your TIME you spent to get the car back.

Better yet, if you know someone who is a lawyer, print out a list of your claims on their legal letterhead. You shouldn't make any threat about lawsuits at this point, if you are in the right this might be enough to scare them into settling out of court.

Stories like this make me want to design an autonomous machine gun security system for our cars. Get near it without permission, and it shoots at you

We actually have one decent dealership out here... they sponsor our local club, cut us deals and they're generally good to deal with.

Hopefully they bring in that rotary specialist they've been talking about...
