Yesterday, while changing my plugs/wires/coils i realized my 8 was running on 4 leading spark plugs! i bought the car 4 months ago and it had 93000kms and now has 101000kms. The old plugs looked pretty worn out so im assuming my car was running on 4 leading plugs for at least a good 25000km, if not more.

Does any one know the potential damage this may cause, if any? Also, a few months ago i got a misfire code which lit up the check engine light but the light disppeared a week later. My car has also been drinking industrial amounts of gas 20L/100km which is about 11 mpg.

Does any one see a link between these issues and having 4 leading plugs? thanks

 

shouldn't cause any major damage.
dont' some of the FI guys run all leading plugs anyways?

misfire code could be a fluke, could have been related to the plugs, or it could be your ignition coils

Some mazda dealerships here in Italy (and a couple elsewhere in europe) did replace the plugs with 4 leading plugs more than once...
