...the mount implies that there is an ipod in there somewhere.
Thieves will look for the suction cup circle on windshields as a clue that there's a portable GPS stashed somewhere. Always carry a microfiber cloth to wipe the circle off. And don't leave the microfiber in view.

Khronus - does that $500 deductable apply to your comprehensive coverage? This kind of thing is covered by comprehensive, and it's common to have a lower deductable for comprehensive than for collision.

The damaged B-pillar would be from the thief trying to open the door by prying on what he/she thought was the door jamb. My daughter's car was broken into, and had similar B-pillar damage. It was a sedan, so prying there made sense.

Theft/vandalism damage won't raise your premium.

What a jackass. I mean, so maybe he tried to pry the door open first and failed, then decided to go for the window. But then to take the extra time to slash your tire to add that extra bit of misery for no reason, that's just too low for words.

Thanks for all the support guys, and thanks for the kind and funny words, can you guys believe they stole my leather seats and replaced them with cloth??????? LOL. I decided to go with the ins. company just because of the damage to the pillar, I'm having one of their adjusters come and take a look at it and see what my policy covers as far as the stolen goods(I have progressive, full cover). I never used the GPS since it belonged to the wife, I just needed it that day to get to the Racer's edge motorsports meet, so by the time I got to the restaurant I had completely forgot about the device since is not something I use on a regular basis.

I'll keep you guys posted.

They left the passenger door open, I opened the rear door after realizing that the cops weren't going to show up. You def need to watch out, I have(had) dark tints and this happened in one of the better parts of town, in plain view on a busy shopping plaza right under a light pole.

Sucks. As a victim of theft a few times before on a previous car, I totally understand. Good luck!

That is freaking horrible. Having just had all my wheels/tires stolen from in front of my house I sympathize. One thing I can recommend is spring for the $50.00 vibration sensor OEM part and install it asap. At least that way you can potentially hear the lowlife bashing your window out. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you, but keep in mind during the annoying repair process etc that it could be much worse and you and your family etc are safe. There are a lot of things worse than a $500 deductable. Additionally consider after you get the car repaired calling your insurance and lowering your deductable for comprehensive. Most of the time you can lower the deductable for comprehensive to almost $0.00 with a -minimal- yearly increase. The lowest it goes for Maryland is $50.00 deductable but thats 10x cheaper than it was before I lowered it. Best of luck to you!

more the reason for a thief to break in and see what you are trying to hide.

Agreed. My MX-3 still got broken into and had my subs/amp stolen, even with dark tint and a car alarm. You could even see where the theives had cleared off the dirt on my back hatch to try to look into it. They couldn't see anything anyway because I had a cover over the trunk area inside the car (like most hatchbacks do).

Anyway, all tint really does for thieves is make your car a more promising target... they don't know what you DON'T have in there.

Well guys, just a quick update, I decided to go with the insurance company. The estimate for the damage was $950. I should hopefully have my car back by the end of next week or beginning of the following week. I'll keep you guys posted.

Sorry to see that pic! The pillar damage is maybe from the screwdriver or something else they put in there and used it as leverage to brake the glass. They left the door open? Don't you double lock your doors?
I am sorry for that, but after some time you'll get over it.
It happened to my older car, a Seat Ibiza, they broke the passenger window, broke the passenger's compartment, took the radiocd panel and then removed the radiocd from the dash making alot of scrathces on the dashboard.

This is why we need guns. Where I am, everybody has guns. Except for the occassional car getting keyed by dumb college kids, nobody messes with your property.

Utter disrespect.
