Angry My car was broken into last nite...

So, my car was broken into last nite And well to say the least, i'm really pissed. I haven't called my insurance company or the cops yet, since i needed to get to work. I just took my other car, and left my baby at home.

The only thing that was taken was my good new leather coat. As i walked up to my car this morning and unlocked it, i noticed that the lights didnt flash, which seemed odd. Then when i got in, the glove compartment and center console were open. Whoever it was left all my cd's (i havent check if all of them are there, plus i dont think i would be able to notice any missing) and some other random stuff.

This just pisses me off, cause i know i locked her up last nite. Cause when i got up to my apt. after work i couldnt remember if i locked her, so i double checked by honking the horn. This sucks, i loved that coat, and i don't have renters insurance and i know its not my landlords responsibility, so basically i'm sh*t out of luck.

The strange part is that i live in what is considered a very nice area of cincinnati, like one of those good neighborhoods that everyone wants to raise their kids in. And in the past couple of weeks there have been a couple of shootings and armed robberies.

Thanks for listening to my rant, it feels better to vent a little bit.

I think.....don't take my word for it though, that your insurance company would cover anything stolen out of the car. I know that feeling, that sucks....
My Neon was broken into twice, and the passenger window smashed in once. At least they left your car in one piece.

Sounds like they didn't do any damage? I would have been more pissed if they had damaged my car then taking my coat! Sorry that it happened to you!

ya that sucks man i have been broken into before to. Your insurance should cover all of your stuff that was in the car if you file a claim but sometimes its not worth your insurance going up.

There was no damage, i'm just frustrated. It was in my garage behind my house/apt. The thing that worries me the most is that as far as i know my alarm never went off. Cause i am positive that it was locked up. And isnt the alarm supposed to go off if somebody picks a lock? Also i can't believe that someone would go through all that trouble just for a coat. Mainly i'm really frustrated and confused

Car theives have some pretty sophisticated technology these days - including devices which can 'grab' the key from a remote locking system (and presumably they can figure out the rolling code algorithm - never ceases to amaze me that the crooks demonstrate ingenuity that should land them $100K+year development jobs)...

Be thankful they didn't damage your car. I've always been gutted that when my parent's house was burgled, they opened the doors on my unlocked cars and took nothing of value - an APS camera, an old GameBoy, they even failed to steal the Blaupunkt £600 head unit from my CX despite the removal keys being in the glove box (They leaned on the switch for the neon lights and scared themselves, I think) - but my mom's Porsche had £2,500 of damage done to it from them trying to force the locks, then bend the door top (why they didn't just break the window is beyond me).

I caught 'em, though. Small town. *nods* They were stupid boy racers; cheap-*** cars like the Vauxhall Nova have such flimsy door frames you can bend the top out to break in, and they thought this would apply on a Porsche too...

alnielsen, that reminds me of that jeff foxworthy blue collar stand up, where thats how he knows he is getting old.

ok, well when i say garage, i really mean glorified car port. Its a really old brick building, that doesnt have doors, its really just for protection from the elements. So that part doesnt bother me. What bothers me is how they got into the car, and i have no ideas.

Sorry about your losses man. Someone broke in mine last year..(spring break). My NOMAD was stolen and my insurance said oh well. In the Isolated State of Texas (IST), the insurance companies require you to take additional coverage for anything that is not part of the car. And being the genius that I am...I found out when it was too damn late. Not too mention, they broke my rear window....which I had to pay for myself, because it was just below my friggin' deductible. I lost 240 for the window and 250 for the NOMAD...and also about 9,000 songs....Damn, it took a long time to transfer those songs!

I now have the additional coverage on every vehicle. I hate that spring break is approaching.

518!

Doesn't the 8 automatically arm itself if you don't arm it manually? I can recall a few times when I disarm it to get in--it'll arm itself after 30 secs or so?

that's only if you armed it to begin with. If you get out without arming, it will not automatically arm itself. If you arm it, realize you left something in and disarm it, then get distracted by the pitbull charging at you, it will rearm itself while you're sitting in the tree.

Your insurance should cover anything stolen provided that you dont try and claim anything silly like the Mona Lisa ala Maurice Clarett a few years ago.
