My 2004 RX8 GT, 18k miles

Well here it is, finally after a couple years, but let me tell my short story first.

I first hears about the RX8 4 years ago sophomore year of highschool. Did some research on the RX8 and was generally amazed. Soon after that i learnt about RX7's.

I quickly realized i could not afford an RX8 at the time so i bought a very clean 1988 Turbo II RX7 with the intent of rebuilding the dying engine. Ran it for a couple thousand miles before the engine gave out. I rebuilt it, messed up the outer coolant seals and the front needle bearings/spacers, and had it rebuilt again professionally by Kevin Lancers.

Messed around with that for a while trying to get it to run right, but i did not have the patience or willpower to work on that car anymore.

About a year passed and that is when i bought my 1989 RX7 GTUs. Had all sorts of N/A go fast goodies, tons of suspension mods. But it was an old beater and hardly acceptable to be a street driven vehicle. I sold that with the intentions of saving my money for an RX8, like i originally wanted years ago.

My neighbor had two beautiful RX8's that made me very jealous over the past couple years as he'd go WOT while i work on my RX7's, made me chuckle.

About a month ago i found out he was selling his gorgeous 2004 Titanium Gray GT with 17k miles for a piddly $13,500. I told him once i got enough money for a big downpayment the car was mine, but i needed to get rid of my hyundai elantra first.

A couple weeks pass, he stops me on my road on his motorcycle. He tells me straight up, "Do you want to trade your Hyundai Elantra plus whatever extra amount for my RX8. I need a good, cheap, clean daily driver for work as i drive 100 miles for work everyday, and my old ford just isn't cutting it anymore"

We worked out a deal, my 2004 hyundai elantra, + $9000 for his RX8. And here i sit, with a **** eating grin on my face every time i look out my window at my gorgeous RX8.

Congrats and thanks for including pics. Nice to see a new owner who did his homework.

Are those carbon fiber-ish bits in the interior?

When i got the car there was an RX8 promotional video in the glove compartment, still in the package. It will stay that way for the life of this car.

Yes, those are carbon fiber interior pieces along the center console, and the door handle trim pieces.

Maintenance records i have none of, but the car had every PCM re-flash except for MSP-16, which i had done immediately.

Here is my list of wanted mods.
-K&N Drop in filter
-BHR/Racing Beat catless dual resonated midpipe
-Mazda Maniac tuned Accessport
-Hawk HPS Pads
-Tokico D specs on Racing Beat Springs
-Racing Beat Sway bars
-SS clutch line/SS Brake Lines
-Powder Coated Gunmetal stock rims with a red lip.
-MazdaSpeed Spoiler
-Some sort of catback exhaust eventually, i am very fond of the way the stock RX8 sounds, so when i get bored with it i'll upgrade.

Most of the mods are just to enhance how the car feels, i know that any significant amount of power wont be freed up.

Next time i post pictures she will have all of said modifications done to her.

That was a great story. Can't believe you actually found an 04 with only 17k miles on it. The hell did he do with it all those years?

The dude had 2 RX-8s, and a motorcycle to boot. I'd imagine the miles were nicely spread...

Edit* oh and that ford too!

Very clean RX8, although not the most exciting color . Your S4 TII was very clean also.

The carbon fiber bits are nice. Nice and smooth, accent the car well. They do not look out of place at all, looks very OEM, which it should because they are.

I was afraid at one point that he was going to give up on the rotaries when he was having issues with his T2 so I gave him a ride in mine and well I think he fell in love that day LOL. Hey we need to get out for some more photos, anyone else in the area care to join? I took the night shots he posted and I'll be getting shots along the cruise this Saturday.
