My $380 '04 Mazda RX8 - resto build, auto2manual, etc.

So, after many posts on the FB group, I just decided I'd join and make a thread here I can update along the way. I got this car about a year ago in Jacksonville, FL for a measly $380 and towed it home. It sat dormant until a few weeks ago when I got a 6 speed manual transmission, and started putting together a running engine to drop in. I'll update this as I go and hopefully it stays up and people find it useful.

2004 Mazda RX8 (silver)
4 port 13b-MSP running on microsquirt
-LS1 coils
6 speed manual
- 12lb flywheel
- 6 puck sprung clutch kit

the one advantage of being in Florida is it doesn’t need to pass an emissions inspection ...

Almost got all the rusty **** out of the car. What's the best way to clean up these rusted brackets so I can paint them?

Dash out, brace and steering about to come out.

Comes sparkly clean with some elbow grease.

I've made a lot of progress on this but I'm waiting on a replacement phone so I can upload updated pics. I've got another engine in with 6MT and the clutch pedal.
