and there are not many cars that are yellow like yours. yellow seems more exotic to some people, so they think of the name of the most expensive car they know...ferrari, they might think of others to mention, but can't pronounce them. HA!

My God, such hatred towards a car. The majority of America loves the styling of the new Mustang, so there's really nothing to be ashamed of. Don't get me wrong, I like having a unique car in the RX-8, but this type of "elitist" attitude is what gives import lovers such a bad name.

Had a fair amount of people confuse it for a Audi TT or Porsche.

At Road Atlanta a few weeks ago, an older British guy and his young grandson were admiring my 8 with their mouths wide open...

him: "What is it" in very Brit accent.

me: "A Mazda RX-8"

him: "Wow", we don't have those in our country yet! It's beautiful!

me: "Actually, you do have them"

him: "No, I've not seen one yet. Maybe next year!"

He was awed at my car like I was at the new Porsche Carrera GT parked in the paddock area I had just wet myself over.

there was a massive amount of sarcasm in my statement, i was hoping i wouldn't have to explain it.... basically, i had just purchased a new car and i'd like it to be recognized for what it is as well as what it isn't

well that, and i grew up in a Chevy family

the new mustang is certainly Ford's best effort in a long time, and does look quite nice... i hated the look of the last bodystyle

Hehe, well I've come across my fair share of people on this forum that would have sincerely meant every word of that statement . Sorry I made you clarify.

I get a lot of "wow, that a nice car, what is it?" and "so, that's Viper right?!" People are so clueless.

You get excited when someone thinks it's a Viper, and pissed when someone says it's a Bettle.

Either way, those people have no idea what they are talking about hehe.

When we first got the car, people would ask what we bought. I would tease them with
"well, it's a 4 door car with a 1.3 L engine".

That's so funny. My wife's uncle gave me car props on m "Chevy 350Z". What a tool.

On a related note, I got pulled over on Sunday and the cop just wanted to talk about my car. He had NO idea what it was so he was asking me all kinds of questions about it. Then he proceded to tell me how much my insurance rates would go up if I got a ticket (23 yrold male).... needless to say I was relieved b/c I was going a little fast at the time.

I got asked last week "What did you pay for that $44k?" I smiled and said no $26 actually. His jaw dropped in disbelief.
