Exclamation MSP04 Reflash

hey guys, i just got back my car from the dealer, i had my center console changed, b/c it broke, and i also told them to check my PCM problems, i had the M flash but they updated it with a new one called MPS04 (update) the car runs better, it seems, no start crank is gone, they also checked my Tranny b/c sometimes the R doesnt go in all the way, they said they counldnt duplicate the problem, i guess that normal......took 7 hours to do tho........

The reflash should only take 15 minutes... the mazda special program has been known for a month or so now... check out the TECH section...

Man 7 hrs! That sounds like my Mazda dealer.

That's one impressive placebo effect! You might not know this if you haven't been following closely - but the MSP04 is Mazda Special Program 04, and it's just a dealer instruction bulletin that says "do this for every applicable car that comes in your shop". In the case of MSP04, it says "do the M flash to every RX-8". In other words, if you had the M flash already, then absolutely nothing changed on your car, even if they re-applied the M flash. What might have happened is they cleared the PCM condition memory, but that's it.

hmmmmm im pretty sure they did everything over again, b/c my car was messing up wayyy too much, thats why it took so long. diagnostics and sh*t. happy now?

That's where she learns/remembers how one drives, no? Is it possible that radically changing one's driving style, say from break-in to spirited, would confuse the computer?
