The Moonroof Wind Deflector
How many of your 8 owners own one of these? I find it pretty nifty for its function, but I don't like how it looks once the moonroof is slided out. I think it's good if you're the type that drives it during long trips with the moonroof open.
By the way, how many of you guys put the moonroof to use? What I mean is how many of you guys keep it open most of the time you drive in the 8?

I've got it open all the time, and it has a little wind deflector thing that pops up when you open it. I think the optional accessory is not only ugly, but unnecessary. As I am one of those prissy girls who gets pissed off if my hair is at all blown around in a car, it doesn't take much to **** me off with a moonroof/sunroof. I have had no bad hair days due to my moonroof yet.

Oh gosh, can you both say it any better! I mean, it just protrudes up there on the roof of the 8 as if the car needed something to cover it up, just like the bras for example. But I mean, with the deflectors and the bras, both would or should be used for long drives cross-country, or just long drives in general.
Is there anyone that loves the Moonroof Wind Deflector accesory for the RX-8?

I don't have one and don't need one. The 8 lets a lot less air into the cabin than my 7 did. FWIW, I'm with Elara - the deflector has a negative visual appeal factor (is that better than saying it's butt-ugly?).

1) The deflector is ugly.
2) The pop up wind-blocker works fine, but requires cleaning
3) I leave the top cracked all the time unless it looks like it will rain because I live in Arizona and it's a great way to vent the car during 110 degree days
4) Bras don't belong on cars, that's what wax is for (or a new paint job) either way it's a good excuse to work on your baby

I have to ask about your avatar pic - I've seen that one elsewhere on the forum. What is the little thing in front of the car? Looks like some kind of mechanical bug or something?

I just thought it was funny that the bug snuck into the picture

FWIW, I have a wind deflector on my MX-6 and IMO it really cuts the wind noise.

Back to wind deflector..........I was also having my doubts if I was going to like this thing because it is messing with the smooth lines. Anyways, my new to be car has this thing on it, has anyone removed one? I assume it is just stuck on with double side tape but I hope it will not damage the paint when removed or leave a discoloration. Anyone with experience on this?
Thanks
Thanks

There is no tape or adhesive.
You just unscrew the two screws on top of the deflector with the moonroof open and the whole thing just slips off. It is held in place by tension.

Hey Maniac, that is good news, I was worried that if it was glued/tapped onto fresh clear coat, it might leave marks.
Thanks
Anyone want to buy one? I hear they look really good

I agree with Elara on the moonroof deflector. What I find interesting is that this the first car I have owned that your hair does not get messed up by the wind when the side window is open. I can just barely feel any breeze or buffeting from the drivers side window.

Mine came with the deflector already. I hated the way it messed with the body lines of the car. Gave it a try and love it, but don't like the looks. I will probablly take it off soon. It has caught a few rocks and pertected the roof:D But will still loose it. The bra , I do like for the pertection it gives. I drive over 100 miles a day and it has saved the nose.
