I have a question, I would like to get a good answer. I was thinking about installing the MoonRoof Wind Deflector for the sunroof. I was wondering if any of you have installed it, and is it safe to go into a car wash without any problems or damages. I was also wondering if any of you installed one. I was interested how it gets installed.
So let me hear from you.

 

I have one installed. It came with it so I can't help with the install instructions. My old Acura Integra also had one. I pretty much always go to the car wash and have yet to have a problem with it.

Most of the plastic deflectors stick on with 3M tape. I have a set of rain deflectors on my truck windows that have been on for three years. They show no sign of coming loose. I go to the car wash all the time. With so little air coming in the car I don't no why you would need it.

 

Very simple install - bolt to edge of moonroof opening. With time - will - like most deflectors if not all - slightly mark finish where rubber edge is clamped down on roof and probably leave some marks where the moonroof closes on its clamps - although they are rubber coated.

About 1/2 hour to install - you must be sure car finish is spotless before install. No drilling, etc.


Seems to work well - one of the edges lifted up a little when I clamped it down about 1/8 to 3/16 inches. Looks great.

I took mine off, very little difference in incoming air. I didn't think it looked too bad but I did not want it to mark the paint at all.

 

Installed myself in about 20 minutes. Directions provided by Mazda are good. Keeps your hair from blowing if that's what you are looking for. Without the deflector it felt like you would get suck out the roof when you open it. Too bad the rear windows are powered open with a dash mounted switch. Would make it much better.

 

The 8 doesn't really need it. IMO it just clutters up the appearance. Dealer I bought from stuck one on all the moonroof 8's automatically. I picked one that they hadn't gotten to yet and don't miss it one bit. I have had the roof open more on the 8 than any other car I've owned in the last 20 years.

 

I'll sell you mine if'n you want it, because it's coming off this weekend. I never really wanted it, but it came with it from the dealer.

 

Ugh....the stock deflector is SO ugly! Looks like a total after-thought - which it most likely was.

Avoid it at all costs!

 

I wanted one on my 8 since I had and needed one on my prior vehicle but dealer didnt have one at the time I ordered. The 8 doesn't need it. The airflow from the open moonroof does not need to be deflected. It works fine as is and one less thing to worry about.
