Milestone 150K

very nice. It proves something that perhaps people rarely think about, mention, or acknowledge, so I'll throw in my two cents.
TIME plays a HUGE role in reliability and longevity. The more you drive a car, the more reliable it becomes. The more highway you drive, the more miles you get out of a car. Try getting 150-200k miles out of an RX8 or any car for that matter driving mostly city traffic over a 10 year span without having issues or higher maintanence costs.
it reminds me of my 1995 GTI when I used to drive a lot. I put 220k miles on that car, and got rid of it still going strong, and nothing but basic maintanence ever being needed.
my Aunt bought a 1990 Saab 9000. It was regarded as VERY unreliable. She drove it on the highway and put 330k miles on it. Original turbo. The only thing that went wrong was the tranny, which needed to be replaced. Had you given me that same car, and my type of commuting, combined with the fact that it would have taken me many years longer to reach 330k miles, that wouldn't have happened. I'd have had all sorts of hell.
Anyway, Congrats on 150k, and I expect you to reach 300k with your type of driving. I just advise you catch up on maintanence, because that could come back and haunt you.

Let's see.
Sorrento Florida is NW of Orlando near MT. Dora if that helps any.
I have changed the air filter frequently, every 6 months or so
It is a 6 speed manual and the clutch is still original
I am on the 3rd set of plugs and second set of wires. Plugs were changed last month and I plan on changing the coils and wires this weekend.
Will probably consider fluids in the very near future before summer hits.
I have had the alternator replaced, October or November of last year, have a rebuilt one in now, changed battery at the same time.
But I still enjoy driving it. I don't drive much highway speeds anymore, just the commute on the I4 parking lot, I don't expect to get the same results for the next 4 years.

I just changed the coils and wires over the weekend, ha the plugs changed 2 weeks ago. Had stall issues the next day so I have taken it to the dealers to diagnose and possibly get the TSB-MSP, I will see if they want to do it.

Congrats on that milage! Now get to your maitnance issues. Sounds like you have simple changes such as filters , fluids, etc. Do those, keep her running for another 150K! In June, as you know,70k on the clock and runing stronger than new.

With that said I am starting to notice a little loss of power during hot days and even the odd stall at a light. It is not frequent but has occured on two occasions in the past 3 - 4 months with the most recent being last week. Sometimes on the highway when I reach 70-75mph it will start to "choke" when it has been running for 30 minutes or longer, again not always but does happen.

+1. Lambert, if you want this thread to be really useful to everyone, please provide the above details, as well as what the dealer said and did about your stalling problem.

They did the latest TSB and said they did a compession test but could not find the reason for the stall. They wanted to do the carbon cleaning (for $200.00) so I said pass.
I recently put an AEM CAI and it seems to run much better. I found that the throttle body was gunked up so I cleaned it out and it opens and closes better, I also noticed that the air intake sensor was also gunked up so I gave it a cleaning as well.
So it seems to be running better at hotter temps during the day. We will see what happens in the future.

cleaning the tb does help.. did you catch the maf sensor. the little wires up in the hole above the temp sensor?
that helps..
