Smile Might be a new owner

Im to exciting and I can't hide it.

Tomorrow after work going to look at this rx8 05 (white- does that mean anything?) Been doing my research and seen the problems but still willing to work with it and have it be my second car. The owner said he hasn't been riding it at all been sitting for awhile 1 years and he turned it on every month or so, maybe occasionally driving it. He hit a deer so the front left side is a lil off but eh, just get another bumper. Other than that he says its in good condition. 59,000 miles on it. Ill be going to college since i took a year off to work, hopefully ill get this wed,

eh yea, he said he flooded it , i don't no how many times but that doesn't sound to good. How do I check for any signs of the cat failing?

What should I look for when looking at it.
When the spark plugs were changed
The coils
The wires

please wish me luck..

thanks looking forward to being around the site more once I have this beauty.

possibly needs new rear tired and break pads..

good deal, what do you guys think?? (hes going to drive it and meet us)
bumper damage:

Get the VIN and call Mazda to see if it's still under warranty.

This is the absolute worst car for a guy starting college. You must be insane. You need a warranty or something. If the car has been sitting for a while, that's even worse. Stay away.

If you can't get the price down, then walk away. There are plenty of used rx8's around with no or little cosmetics to fix. Just if you decided to buy it, make sure to get a compression test before signing that dotted line. Good luck.

alright couldn't today but said def, wed. so have to wait till then and what he ment by it hard to start, as in all the hassle in letting the car warm up. lol I don't mind. and he said thats the only thing that's wrong with it. he was the 2nd owner and bought it like brand new with only 5000 miles on it. she changes the oil every 3k . and whats the compression test do? Would it cost money to do? thanks guys!

I think this is a good deal, I've been looking around for this car and all the prices are high and if there low, they live in Florida or Texas and have high mileage. And this should be still under warranty right? its under the 100,000 miles and has 2 years still so... whatcha guys think and what else should be asking/checking...

(things to do: compression test.)

bumper damage...

Use the vehicle's VIN number and call up Mazda to see about the warranty and if it's still covered.

A compression tests pretty much tests how well the apex seals are sealing against the housing for the rotor. I think the manual says something about how there shouldn't be more than a 14.5PSI difference per rotor, but I could be wrong.

I'd personally say walk away - you can find a better deal. But check it out and have these things done. If you still want it, go for it.

Oh, and the cost of a compression test at a dealership should be around $200... I think.

If this is your second car, and you can afford the repairs and maintenance... Go for it!

Well most people my age don't know how to save. I'm not such a party animal, and I don't like to eat out alot and I drink lots of water (i see people spending so much money on pop and ****, I think its ridiculous, it adds up.) and among other things I have alot of hobby's that keep me busy. Mostly computers :D Its mostly free and already have my pc built so the expenses are free from here on, Ill be working too, just not so many hours.

Yea I know my second car but I learn/adopt fast plus I think this car will bring me good habits? more or less, I will def learn a thing or 2 . Ill keep you guys updated on what happens though.

I may be ignorant but I always shoot for high dreams that I have.

Thanks ill be back

Honestly, this car is not worth it. Damage, the two years not being used. Just not worth it to me. This car takes lots of checking up on. ALL THE TIME. I dont want to be rude or mean, but there is lots of other 8's out there that are just a few more grand, with nothing wrong with them, might even have more aftermarket stuff, or new things put in already like plugs, wires, coils, starter. etc... Enjoy.

I have to agree with those who say "walk away". I'm not convinced hitting a deer results in just cosmetic damage. And frankly, the RX-8 is, blessfully, one of the most unpopular cars in America. Blessfully because it means anyone who wants one (new or used) should be able to find one in good condition for a ridiculously low cost. Hell, even a new one for just a few thousand under sticker (and you could do a lot better) is already a bargain.

So keep looking, dude. When you find a good one you'll be glad you waited.

I don't know how long it has been sitting. I mean not just straight sitting all year. If he drives it to meet me somewhere to look at it and test drive then things should be decent right? Hes a 40 yr man I still think its a good deal because all other mx8 i seen are much more and if they are this cheap, they barley run or have way bigger cosmetic damage and high miles. but idk might as well go look at it though.

Like I said in mesg#9......

We know how excited you are but it won't be worth half what you paid if it's not on WARRANTY.

Cars are expensive and will have needs you can't ignore. Save....and someday you will pay the money for the car fax and it would be your only concern.
