midpipe... yes or no?
#26
I have the Greddy SP2 with the mid-pipe and at first I hated the sound, and thought it was too loud. But after a week or so I got used to it and now I don't think I would want to go back stock. The extra mid-top end power is nice as well.
For some reason I never had a CEL.

Flames will definitely come
The Racing Beat pipe is indeed loud however I have been running the MS CAI, RB test pipe, and HKS single exit exhaust for nearly 10,000mi and am yet to get attention from the police. Granted I don't drive it hard on the streets at all, its still (semi)proof that driving style has a greater effect. To top it off I am in the Los Angeles/Orange County areas so the law enforcement is rather strict.
One time I was with a buddy with a miata running a magnaflow muffler and the officer told him it was illegal and to get it take care of. Next to him were my friend w/ a catless s2000 and myself.
Also, my check engine light seems to pretty much stay off. It was off for about a 5000mi period, came on for a day, and is back off. Not entirely sure why, but it is nice not having a CEL.

After doing some research etc I'm thinking I will go with a midpipe when I get my turbo installed... what is the best and/or cheapest midpipe that will bolt to the stock exhaust? I've heard the TurboXS midpipe and exhaust is a decent combo, but I don't mind the stock exhaust so if I can save some money getting just the midpipe thats fine by me. Not terribly concerned with sound, I'm more concerned with not melting pieces of my car.

because you just dont buy old Vagina....by the way.... You should put sound silencing wrap around ur race pipe...it'll help somewhat.

If you want a quieter midpipe alternative, there's the Mazsport midpipe that I have. It's dual resonated and great quality, and being pretty thick-walled has a deep and non-raspy sound. It's a little pricey though ($470)
