Metal Clanging?

Any of you notice a metal clanging that seems to come from the rear tires, (mine seems like the rear right). Whenever I hit a couple good bumps, I hear a clang clang, like something's loose.

I swear I read a post on this before but my searches are coming up empty.... anyone?

I get the clanging almost everyday when I pass over some rocky (NOT OFF ROAD ROCKY!) pavement leading into my complex.

I just assumed it was normal cuz it happened since the 1st day I had my 8...

Does that mean it's NOT?!?

& the tranny damper was for 6spd only right, cuz I got the auto.

Tranny damper is toward the middle of the car aint it? My clang comes from the rear right.. Very noticeable when I drive with the right window open..

It's most likely the exhaust. It's mounted so it can move, and sometimes under extreme stress will hit other parts of the car. You'll have to look hard to see where it's hitting as the marks are not obvious. For a fix, try moving the rubber mounts on the rods they slide on, or even bending the rods a bit so they slide the exhaust away from whatever it's hitting. I added additional rubber mounts to my Pathfinder as its' exhaust was hitting the trailer hitch. The additional rubber parts pull it further from the hitch.
