melting plastic sound

hey guys... I haven't had any issues with my rx-8 yet, but occasionally I hear an odd sound right after I start the car (or right after I shut it off). It sounds like melting/crinkling plastic coming from inside the dash - the sound lasts for about 10 seconds. I don't know how else to describe it.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? Should I be worried?

Thanks

Is the car brand new? Sounds like an exhaust "burning in" to me.

It has about 5600 miles on it. I've definitely heard this sound for atleast 2000 miles.

It occurs directly after I start the car - without touching the throttle. It doesn't matter if I have the clutch engaged or not.

It's air in the coolant lines. Nothing to worry about. Burp your system if you want to take care of it. Take off radiator cap, idle engine for 5-15min with heater on full blast.
