Mazda service dept. hit my baby!!
Mazda service dept. hit my baby!!
I dropped the car off Friday to get some things taken care of:
- Airbag rattle TSB
- Driver side window making ticking sound as it rolls up
- Oil Change
- Tire Rotation
- Free cabin air filter
Well a couple of hours after I got home, I get a call and apparently there has been a "mishap" in the parking area. Well f@% me.
So yesterday morning I drove up there with a camera to take damage assessment. It doesn't look to extensive but the front bumper is popped out of place on both sides of the car. What was going to take a couple of days and is now going to take a couple of weeks. They're sending the car to their body shop on Monday.
Has anybody else experienced this? I think I should be entitled to some free sh@% for this "mishap." Free service for a year or two, or my choice of accessory, etc. What do you think?
Here are photos. Makes me cry.

Get them to fix it and maybe throw in a front airdam as compo.
While you're at it ask for the side skirts and rear underdeflector as well.
Start ranting and raving about causing undue mental anguish and loss of mobility, not to mention causing you great inconvenience.

If they do the right thing, and they fix it right for free with no prodding needed from you, you do the right thing and don't bother them about $900 worth of goodies. "Good business" works both ways.

They damaged your car - they're fixing your car. Why should you expect more? Why is it that people in the US seem to feel they should profit from misfortune, rather than accept that having the misfortune remedied is perfectly adequate?

Bagman I can't imagine how sick you must feel to see your baby damaged
I know every know nick that comes up on the nose of my car and it just pains me to watch the perfection of my girl erode. I have to agree with this post from Gord that you're entitled to a perfect repair, adequate transporpation provided by them in the interim, and nothing more.
Hope you get your ride back soon.

I think the dealership should do something extra to try and keep your future business but not a Mazdaspeed spoiler or $900 in goodies. I think a $50 giftcard to a nice restaurant or a couple of free oil changes would do the trick. This would be a smart move on the service managers part to make things right and keep your future business and new car purchases.
Yes, my step-dad bought a Mazda 3 and will only take it to a non-Mazda dealership to ge the oil changed. I might start doing the same.
Well here, listen. A car is never the same when it's been hit - I'm sure I'm going to have more rattles inside, etc. The problem is that many times, body shops do very good work but not "perfect" work. I guess I'll wait and see until I get the car back before I bitch any more.
So here's what happened.
They had my car parked in the lot and a service tech was backing another RX-8 (Titantium) into the spot next to mine and BAM hit mine, and damaged that person's RX-8 as well.
Now tell me that is not sloppy work.

IF they are giving him another RX-8 to drive while his is being fixed, that's fine. Otherwise he is entitled to compensation for the loss of use of his car. So to say that he is entitled to get his car fixed properly at their expense, and not "entitled" to anything else is not accurate.

Case in point: my wife got hit more than four years ago and the body shop who fixed her car did an amazing job. They used only OEM parts and paint, and there is absolutely no way to see any difference between the fender they repainted and the rest of the car. It looks perfect.
It was damned expensive (for the insurance of the person at fault, not us), but they sure did as good of a job as it was possible.
Folks, they are legally liable only to the extent provided in whatever service agreement he signed when he dropped off the car. That would be to fix the bumper and nothing more. Anything else is just P.R. cake icing on their part. To start making demands like some of the ones suggested here would just be wasting breath. All dealers get similar complaints and demands routinely, and the dealer's lawyer is almost certainly bigger than your lawyer, so don't even think about it.
Whose lawyer is bigger or better isn't really the subject of this thread, is it? And a service agreement can't limit liability for something that they damaged by virtue of their own negligence.
