Mazda Car Cover
Anyone out there bought the Mazda RX-8 Car Cover? Is it a really tight fit?
I got mine when I bought the car to keep the dust off and avoid scratches when it's in the garage.
I just put it on for the first time and it was really difficult. A very tight fit. I was afraid I was scratching the car just pulling it down over the front and back lips. I've had aftermarket covers before for a miata and they weren't this tight.

I bought it from the dealer where I got the car. It's Mazda's own, you can see it in the accessory brochure or on-line at the Mazda site.
Cost me $250.
As I said it fits really tight, I would almost say too tight. I'm wondering whether I should have gone aftermarket.

I bought mine from a member here on the forum for $160. it's the original car cover from Mazda. Mine fits perfectly however I did notice a tighter fit in the front after the front air dam was installed. You want them to fit tight and with the elastic around the bottom it's just tight enough for me. I wonder though if Mazda designed this car cover taking into consideration the front air dam and the stock rear spoiler or if this really makes a difference at all.

Seems that everyone agrees that it's a tight fit. I do have the appearance package, never thought that they wouldn't have taken this into account when they designed it.
Does anyone think it could actually deform the front lip of the appearance package spoiler?

I was just looking at the Mazda Miata and RX-8 2005 accessory brochure and it shows the cover on a car with the front lip spoiler - so maybe they did take it into account after all.

I find if I put the front end of the cover on first, then pull the rear of the cover as taught as possible, the cover goes on pretty easy. The vinyl license window does tend to stick though, and yes, it is a fairly tight fit.
Now, what's the best way to clean the black stuff/marks from the tires off the inside of the cover? Is this stuff bad?

I have never been able to remove those stains caused by the wheels. I've had customers make cardboard cutouts and keep them with the car cover which helps. If you put it in the washing machine the stuff goes away but not the stain. plus that only happens when the dressing is fresh anyways, so try and avoid it, that's all I have
