Manual Transmission Adjustment

I hear that the manual transmission of the 8 takes a little time to get used too.

Is that true?

im used to my old notchy, low-grabbing clutch in my talon, and had absolutely no problems with the 8 on my viggorous test drive. the clutch grabbed a bit higher and was smoother, the gearbox had shorter throws, and it took a little getting used to to comfortably shift to 5th. (my 5th is like waaaaay off to the right). but after maybe a minute of driving i was totally comfortable with it.

It's a bit of an adjustment. A little rough in the lower gears, but the current M flash is supposed to reduce that quite a bit. Also, my 3rd and 5th gears are much further over than any other car I have ever driven. Not a big deal, but a slight adjustment - I was used to pretty much going straight up in to 3rd and 5th and now I have to think of pushing the shifter to the right to slide into gear. Not a big deal - should take about 5 minutes to get comfortable. :D

I tend to confuse 4th and 6th and sometimes shift third too diagonal yet, also third and fourth feel different (more "clicky") than the others.

Yeah, and backwards is sometimes a pain (but that counts for nearly every car).

But I guess I 'll get used to it in the near future.

The box is higher effort than the BMW I came from, But overall I'm pleased. It seems to respond better if you are driving hard rather than loafing.
Took maybe 3 drives before I adjusted-it was MY problem not the box.
