Looking at Buying an 04 RX-8 GT?

I am looking at an 04 Grey GT that has 27,000 miles on it. I was just kind of wondering if any of you might have any info or things to know that might help me. I have never owned a Rotary Engine car. So is there any general suggestions or wisdom I should know? Thanks for the help.

Don't buy one until the engine recall is done and the car passed with its original engine. Check the RX8 media news board for more info. You will have to hold off for a couple weeks (at least).

If the car runs good now, no need to worry about the recall. Just get the recall done when it is available in your area.

Guys he is new behave.
Check out FAQ section it helped me alot when I first bought the car.
Quick tip, definatly get a carfax on your car and read it in detail. I didnt and now kicking myself partially. Also check your A/C and since its at 27k I'd attempt to have them do that 30k maintence now before you buy it. If your good at haggling I'm sure you can get it tossed in before you sign.

Oh also be forewarned. The sound of this engine is like a Sirens Song. If your not what that means.. you will once you hear it.

There is a very good chance he won't encounter the conditions that would trigger the symptoms on a test drive, and having to get a new engine immediatly after buying the car is not work the risk. It will also decrease the value of the car substantially. There's no reason to chance it when all he has to do is wait another month to get one that passed. It's the smart thing to do.

Not to mention the fact that prices can only go down because of this. The deals could get much sweeter very soon.

about the recall

From what I understand from the guy I spoke with this morning at the dealership the recall should only really affect the automatics. Does that not sound correct?
