What about the gorgeous roar at 9000 rpm?

Oh and the ability to plod away in in traffic at -+30kms/hr in 3rd gear and being able to fly away up to nearly 160kms/hr once you break free from it without having to change gear. 3rd is a magic gear in this car.

Then there's the smile factor, something you just can't help but do whenever you drive it :-)

I love all the little hidden touches that most people see, that are clearly there for high perfomance (track) driving, like the little plastic deflector under the rear near the diff, that directs airflow across the diff cooling fins, and how the undertray creats a low pressure zone to pull hot air out of the engine bay under the car, and that if you hold the DSC button down for a while it creats an "error" and disables it all except the ABS.

Oh and the priceless conversations in the paddock with drivers of much more expensive cars after a session on the track with them.

The slide and restore when you change gears at 9000rpm around a bend, mmm. And the confidence to know this beauty will stick when everyone is near is thinking you going to die.

My Evo has the same full bar. Although, I had to go and check after you made the comment.

I like that you cant really lock yourself out of the car if its running. If its on and you try and lock the drivers door it automatically unlocks. Perhaps that is an s2 thing, no clue.

Not true. I'm the idiot that locked myself out with the engine running. Started the car to let it warm up. Decided to get something from the trunk while it was warming up. When I tried to pull the front door handle, I accidentally pressed the rubber button (smart key) to effectively lock me out. I had to "guard" the idling car for about 45 minutes until my dad dropped off the spare key. $10 of gas down the drain Now I always roll down my window if I leave my smart key in the car.

Ah I have no smart key, so thats not an issue for me lol. I make a habit out of rolling down my window whenever I exit a running car anyway. My last car would randomly lock itself on its own while running.

You must be short because I'm only 6 ft or so, and I had to take that dead pedal out so I could stretch my leg on a long trip.

I bolted some ugly brackets on the floor to brace with my leg extended when I track.

Ive had 4 rx7's all second gen. I bought my first rx8 last saturday. Im 27 and I feel like im in highschool all over again. I cant wait to get out of work and drive my 8, thats what I think about all day. Also It has an ashtray. I dont even smoke but its nice to have the compartment and extra plug. Also the fact that you can adjust the guage lights to glow only red instead of white. when the head lights are on.
well thats my little things.

Its a small thing but the doorhandle lever is made of metal not plastic. Thats a rarity in any car.

10000 miles in, and I still smile every time I walk up to it.

Mechanics/technicians saying "What is that?" when they look under the hood.

There's something about the seat... Even though my previous car sat a good 4-6 inches higher off the ground, it always felt like I was falling into it and climbing out. I seem to fold into and out of the RX's seat much more easily.

Smile Owned a 2005, just bought a 2010 R3

I owned a 2005/Nordic Green. Loved the car, had to get rid of it when my mom got sick. I knew she would struggle getting in and out, so bought a Charger (also a fun car).

Last week, I bought a 2010 R3. Whenever I've seen an RX8, my eyes stay with it. I see more Boxsters and Caymans in Chicago than RX8s. Aside from all the cool and thoughtful aspects of the car's appearance, handling, feel, etc., I love its unique beauty.

After stopping at a friend's business on the way home on Friday, we walked out the door toward the car. "This is a really nice car," he said. "What is it?"

I smiled and had to explain that, despite its exotic appearance, I actually reduced my car payment.

Thanks to everyone for all the 'little things' on this thread. I'm only one-third through (I read a page or two each day to slowly absorb what everyone has shared) and looking forward to reading the rest.

Can't remember if I've posted this yet, but I miss the sound of the RX8. Even the stock noise is pretty nice. But after a CAI and exhaust (I highly recommend the Exoticspeed RII-Titan btw), it sounded like I was driving an F1 car when I really stepped on it! To clarify a bit, it's not the volume or particular tone that I'm referring to. It's the seemingly never ending revving that I miss. The Evo is fun too but for different reasons.

I just bought a 2010 R3, and I have to say by far the best thing about the car is its pure sense of "sport".

From its high reving F1 like sounding engine, to its aggressive looks-like-its-moving-even-when-its-standing-still look. It's all sport baby!

I have had mine for a month and a half. Its my first car and I worked my butt off for it. I like the fact my ex grins at me when she shoots ahead of me at the straight away but when we hit the windy roads and I come around and smile and wave as I blow her doors off at 105 when she needs to slow to 80. Simply priceless. And the fact that you see so many camaros and mustangs but theres only a handful of rx 8's in my region and peoples heads turn when they hear me wind him up before I shut her down.

i don't think this is possible.
i too have the smart key and the it's designed to be activated with the key outside.
i tried locking it with the key in the cabin and it wouldn't let me lock it. even the door lock from inside doesn't lock if the door is open. trunk, however, it's a different story.

You can turn the volume level to almost 50 with no distortion. We were cruising mine at Myrtle Beach and people were dancing on the sidewalk lol.

It has a very cockpit like feel to it. I never have to reach for anything.

Cruise in 5th gear in town and I can adjust most things without moving my hand off the shift ****.

Unless you are shifting, you should never rest your hand on the shift ****. This can cause wear in the transmission's internal shift forks and hubs.
