Great thread...I have been off the forum for a long time....researching a new CX 7. Only giving up this beautiful 8 soon for more space for my biz. This car is so beautiful I still enjoy looking at it after almost 3 years of ownership.....never have I had such a love affair with my own car! It also looks like it is way more expensive than it is.....kudos and thanks to Mazda for making this beautiful, superb and refined vehicle for the masses to afford and enjoy! The trunk is indeed spacious and so is the rear seating.....I have put a ton of stuff in this car to my amazement! The small touches...blue glow, the RX 8 door plate as you get in, the cool tailights, the compartment between the rear seats, the mats that have RX 8 embroidered and a pin to keep them in place, the sunglass holder, the cool visors, the shift paddles on the sterring wheel, the controls on the steering wheel, two tone leather with cool stitching, the rotary shape hood indent, the rotary accent pkg and not to mention it handles great in snow with the proper tires!!! I could go on and only have a few gripes but this car is too good to bash!!!! I will miss her, but i hope to zoom zoom in the CX7 too. I will still drool at the others on the road....still a rare car to see on the road!!!

^^ I pulled out of a place today right behind a tan/white CX-7. I actually really liked it. Looked pretty sweet. RX-8 behind CX-7

The CX 7 is a great next vehicle after the RX 8 if you need the cargo. It has the total zoom zoom appeal with a 244 hp turbo engine. Handles unbelievable and the brakes are the best! It has more power than my 8 and was more fun to drive(I have the automatic 8). Thinking on getting the electric blue or black cherry! undefined

I pick mine up Tuesday (waiting till the spoiler, had em throw one in on the deal, and tint are done) and can't wait. I test drove one in 04 after buying an 03 Passat (work required a 4door) and tried to sell the Passat shortly after that. Decided to finally trade it in on a black 06 RX-8. Decided not to spend alot so opted for the base model. I have one question for all of you 04 owners without DSC (I don't think the 04 had it?) but maybe this isn't the thread to ask. The Passat had it and it was great in the winter but I won't be driving the 8 in winter (have a Jeep Cherokee). I read about thrashing the 8 through turns with DSC. All of the sports cars I have previously had didn't have it and it is a fairly new standard or optional item in cars. Do any of you find it a problem not having DSC? I just think I will have fun handling the car.

I test drove an 05 and 06 Shinka (my head just about scaped on the sunroof and I never used the one in the Passat) and the 06 base model. Funny but the base model just seemed to drive better, sound better, something, I just couldn't put my finger on it??? BTW, have had many leather interiors and like the cloth for comfort, just worried about keeping it clean.

What do I like about it. Heard it is a chicks car so decided that I would rather attract chicks instead of guys. But it really is a distinctive looking car and I have always liked the unusual (including my GF). I'm a techie so I like the motor. It fits like a glove (not OJ's).

This thread is sooo positive that it is a delight to read.

Recently tested the rear blinkers and it seems like they throw a little triangle onto the wall . . . overall this car rocks!

I think it's a guy car - filling up at a gas stop and some strange but freindly man comes over and says "going to take it to the cruise at Atascadero?

The barber next to our beauty shop wanted to ask about it.

This little ol man driving a Link stopped and showed us his car and then talked with Mom about rotarys

So far about 50 guys ages 13 to 87 have introduced themselves to ask about it - 5 challenges at red lights from young males who got all upset to find out it was a car full of grannies "Don't you rev your engine at me young man, I've got an 8!"

2 women have asked, and 3 have tried to challange - one of them parked her car in a field when she failed to make a twisty! She was driving a SUV!

It seems to be more a guy car - but what the hay - you can sure make a lot of friends with this little toy!

I have an 04 that has the DSC. With the DSC on it is almost impossible to make the car spin out. The only bummer is that it does it anytime the car breaks traction. Sometimes it is nice to be able to slide the car around a bit.
It has saved my agressive carcass too many times to drive without it though, especially mow that I am almost ready for a new set of rear tires.

One little thing I don't like about it is how this thread just made the 6 months I have to wait until I buy one so much longer.

Other than that, totally sweet.

I bought the GT leather... in CANADA. Do I have the tire pressure monitors? I really liked them when I test drove the 350z... Of course I still went with the 8.. no question!

Well i dont realy care if this stuff has been mentioned before cause its work saying again... now that Im actualy driving one.

I opened my trunk and didnt think about it, but it had rained all last night and the car was soaked. The trunk funneled the rain water into catches below perfectly so nothing got wet... Also, love the air conditioner! Cooler then snott. 100 miles so far and no problems yet!.

But why didnt aynone say i wouldnt get good gas milage??? I thought it would be at least 25. ... j/p

Just realized after reading this forum that one of the little things I like is that it is a car that a bunch of people are making aftermarket kits and parts for. Makes dreaming about what one might do to thier ride alot more fun.

Read postings on MPG. Also it is hard to get good milage at first because you are going to push it a little harder than your previous car just because you can and it feels so good to have so much control!

Thanks Winfree,
I was actualy joking though. In just about every review of this car, the bad lists "poor gas milage".

Anyway, new small great thing. Sirius radio 1 year free. I didnt think much of it but I realy like that feature more then I thought I would.

New Great thing.
I realized today my car comes with an air compresser! And that my trunk botom opens up into an ice chest (also removable for even more depth).

Hotness.

It's probably been said already, but:

I love the way it always looks happy. It's got a big s**t-eating grin that just says "Drive Me".

I like the tire pressure gage - at first I hated it because the light came on - then I found I had a bad plastic cap on the tire - replaced it for 65 cents, and no more troubles - so what I like is now is I know if it comes on, something needs to be fixed, and when it's off the tires are good -

Also I can reach into the odd cracks in the hood compartment with a dust devil vac (I even got the detailing kit) and keep the front clean! My old red car looks like a swamp in side because I couldn't get into to.

I love the light sensitive mirror - I was out driving a couple of days ago a big truck pulled up behind me with brights and it corrected itself - I was surprised but very pleased.

I like the way you can roll up the window for a few minutes after it turns off, and also how those little door lights come on and then go off after you get out...it has so many simple conviences!

I use to make fun of the TPMS. Thought it was just a dumb government-mandated rule meant to protect clueless drivers who don't take care of their cars. (After all, I check my tires monthly. Always have.) Then one morning the buzzer and light came on. Without it I would've driven off with a flat tire.

I think every thing that i have has been listed, but i still need to put it, ive been waiting and waiting for my 8 and i finally just got it 2 days ago, and i am now in love. Here a just a few little things....

1. The amazing gauge cluster and instrument panel lighting at night that makes me feel like im in a fighter jet.
2. How easily i can get the car to drift and still feel in control.
3. The way the gears pull so nicely, they kind of just glue you to your seat.
4. The transmission!
5. The headlights
6. The truly ingenious center console
7. The comfy factor of the front AND back seats
8. The sweet footrest and perfect possitioning of the clutch, brake, and gas pedals
9. The sound system

I can think of many more...

YOU'RE RIGHT, YOU'RE RIGHT, YOU'RE RIGHT!!! How fantastic.....
That happened to me the other day & it didn't hit me. I just thought, hm...that's odd.
Now I realize why it seemed so odd. NO OTHER CAR WILL STAY CRANKED LIKE THAT. Beautiful....{{{{sigh}}}} I love my car.

When the drivers seat is where I want it (up close & personal), my right knee fits into the niche. I feel as if I'm in a cockpit......
It's 11:15 pm at night & I may go for a ride....

well let me just say before i bought my 8 i drove a 04 350z 06eclipse gt and there quality is nothing in comparison.neither the 350 or the eclipse could even hold a light to the interior quality and comfort of my 8 and the ride is the same way.and with the 8 being just as fast as a 350 track wise and faster then the eclipse im very happy in my decision.also the price was better.and the best part after i got it a beat a gsx and a 3000gt both with quite a bit of tuning over stock.I was very happy. Long live the rotary.
