Pulling up to a stop light - and looking at the other cars around you - *watches them go through intersection* Gray Honda, Gray Audi, Gray Nissan - and they all look alike - I just sit there grinning in my Yellow-8 --- in the 6 weeks I have had the car - I have seen one other 8 on the road - a black one.

Some gas monkey humor:
The kid at the gas station asks if he can check the oil. I say it's not really necessary. He adopts a whiny voice. "Pleeaasse! I just wanna look under the hood!" So I say, go for it. Hope it made his day.

Love the Design
I picked up my 05 Red '8' on the 11th. I put 800 miles on it in a week and decided to change the oil today. While up on stands, I admired the undercarriage. Work of art. Aluminum control arms, powerplant frame, everything just looks 'right'. I miss my 93 Rx-7 TT but this will do nicely. That is until the forced induction kinks are worked out and it gets turbo or super charger. For now, I'll keep the warranty intact.
Love the handling. You can actully "feel" the car as you go through turns. You can control the nose by sight adjustments of the gas pedal. Just magical. In fact I think it handles better than my 7 did, which is saying a lot.
Love it.

Foot Well
I wasn't sure if this was mentioned before, but I love the fact that nothing gets in the way of my size 14 feet! I know I know, clown feet, but nonetheless it is a whole lot easier than my 92 Miata.
I love that the top of the mirrors are painted and the bottoms are plastic.
Tail lights look really sharp with the silver accents!

Handling ... That's it!
I just wrecked my 911 three weeks ago. Test drove just about every car out there. Last week I test drove a Shinka (nice 20 miles test drive) through out some of my favorite overpasses and some hidden fun roads in the SF bay area. Came back to the dealer and closed the deal.
This car handles better than the 350Z, G35 and Boxter (which I have driven all at the race track). I can't wait to start taking this baby to the race track :-)

If you're sitting a stoplight with your foot on the brake, and the wipers go off, you feel the wipers through the pedal, and a little bit through the wheel.
Now that's a stiff car. :D

Smooth Criminal
The little red glow around the round base of all the needles in the gauges. I have seen it before, but got mesmerized by it this morning when i parked the car at work.

I like the way that the you can tilt the steering wheel towards you so that you it is almost straight up and down. Some cars have an angled steering wheel that make you feel like you are driving a big truck.
I like the fact that you sit down low in the car and feel snug with the high door sills. I like the way the car makes you feel like you are going fast even when you aren't going that fast.

I was cruising around down near the Lake yesteday evening and took a wrong turn. I ended up on a dead-end road in a popular local vacationing spot.
There people all over the place and I was a little embarrassed to have to do a U-turn at the end of the road with all of them watching.
These kids start shouting as I'm turning around "Hey, look at that awesome car!". Next thing I know, people are staring and gawking, saying "man, that thing is just beautiful".
I've NEVER driven a car that got that kind of universal praise.
Then the kid shout's "floor it, don't be afraid!"... So I did.

Love this thread.
My daughter found the visor slots as soon as she first got in. hehe.
Read the whole thread and don't think it's been posted but everyone that checks out my Shinka notices the way the moon roof glass is sculpted in the rear corners to fit the roof.
Nice touch Mazda. Much better than having a dull flat rounded over roof.

Another little thing...probably not noticed.
How the door panels are recessed to fit the dash. Yea, a lot of cars have them, but I like how spectators comment on it when they check out the fine interior.
Makes for a snugg fit.

Ok here's another one...
How the metal hood arm, that keeps the hood up, has a little rubber o-ring that covers the gap between it and the radiator overflow so it doesn't vibrate.
Keeps it tight...tight like I like

dont forget that with a push of the dsc off button, and a little bit of rpm, sliding around corners and panting a nice picture on the road behind you is effortless.

I like how the tires are almost "stretched" on the rims (like what's popular with the euro tumer crowd, you know, where the tires are narrower than the rims) it makes it look kind of tight.... it's cool.

Km/mph
I'm about to pick up my new RX8 within 10 days. I'm glad to hear that the display can be switched between km and mph. I live in Canada close to the USA border and this will be a very handy feature since our signs are all in km and it's in mph in the US. (And many of us still think in mph even though we changed over many many moons ago... I also love this new club and web site.

The cabin is very cozy. My favorite time to drive my RX-8 is at night. The red glow from the steering wheel, door, and console controls along with the subtle blue glow over the top of the red dash back lighting is fantastic. I also love the bright white dash back lighting for daytime driving. I'm a sucker for lighting; I was thinking of buying a Scion TC just for the stock lighting options which are no where near as sexy as the RX-8's. I also take for granted now how sweet the outside styling is. I don't have any of the appearance enhancments and yet the car gets stared at constantly.

I got this really neat package from mazda. It had a letter stressing the importance of having qualified Mazda techs work on my rx8.... it had this cool little business card type thing that you could pull off and it had my dealer's hours, phone number, my service tech's name and the VIN of my car...to put in your wallet. But, the coolest thing was a bottle of touch-up paint for my car. Even got the right color - YELLOW!! I know that's not technically about the car, but an event that gave me a warm fuzzy like some of my 8 features.

I love the looks I get from other sports car owners. Just today I was stopped at a red light, windows down, sunroof open, Beautiful Girls by Van Halen blasting, and the Carrera Twin Turbo's owner that drove past me craned his neck around to have a look. Priceless.

Not in RX-8s mind you but I just love the two toned red/black leather in my car. It goes really well with being a graduate of University of Maryland (Red/Black are two of the three official colors).
Now if I could find a date with a yellow (closest to gold) RX-8 with white rims who also graduated from Maryland. We would be a match...

20 not so little things I like about my 8.
1)The predictability on snow and ice.
2)The 5-spoke wheels.
3)The red leather and black interior.
4)The fact that the engine is a front mid engine.
5)The high reving engine.
6)The engine that is so smooth that I sometimes forget to upshift.
7)The strength of the engine.
8)The zenon headlights.
9)The black treatment on the exterior rear end that mimics that of exotic cars.
10)The suicide doors.
11)The exclusive Wankel engine.
12)The fact that it could run on regular fuel, if I desire.
13)The high quality interior.
14)The racing heritage of the engine.
15)The low tire pressure warning.
16)The comfort of the seats.
17)The seat warmers.
18)The dash lighting options.
19)An engine that does not burn oil
20)A Zeibart Diamond Coat finish.

The handling is the #1 thing I love about my car
... here is a 'little thing' that hasn't been mentioned yet:
I installed the factory Sat system the other day, after removing the side sill plate, I noticed that the factory wiring 'system' has a slot MADE for the Satellite system wire. Kind of neat, impressed me (although, it is a 'little' thing!), these sorts of touches make me love the car more.
One more thing, the little plastic flappies that are in front of the wheels (front and rear) to stop crap from flying off the tires and hitting the kicker maybe? They could also be there to deflect wind from the frontal area of the tires too... hmm...
