A little air cleaner help, please guys

Hey guys. I wanted to first say, I appreciate everyone's info on here. I've read a lot but now it's time for me to make a post.

I have an 04 Rx8, sunlight silver, which has been driven part-time, so it only has 20k miles on it.

I added a K&N Cold Air intake with a K&N filter to it, change the gas door, and that's pretty much it.

I'm going to start driving the car more often and want to do some things to it. I don't want to make it fast, but more for just fun and looks. I'm considering clear corners, inside lights, added guages to the center panel...

I want to know what you guys would advise as my next step. Oh, I also have seen some really nice mirrors on the rx8, any suggestions which one's are good and where i can get them?

Thanks!

Oh, I also have 5% tint all around.

Not to pee on your parade or anything, but consider removing the K&N filter. Oiled filters tend to foul the MAF which can cause irratic idle and poor fuel mileage. Do a search for MAF and read about it.

Aside from that, if you're interested in performance upgrades, install aftermarket anti-sway bars like the Racing Beat units. Best handling upgrade for the $$$. I think there is a DIY in the, doh, DIY section of the forum. Also lots of great info there on other mods people have done.

Yep.....as Go said.......check out the DIY section. Lots of good info in there.
Welcome and please add you location(at least some info) to your profile as it will save you quite a bit of time in the future, because people will know approx. where you are at.
Clears are a must in my book, but opinions vary as always. It's an easy one as is the inside lighting and I would suggest http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/fp/SFV/32481for those.

Paint your brake calipers. That's my next mod, as soon as I find the right color.

"Oiled filters tend to foul the MAF..." Notice the word tend. The oil hasn't reached your MAF--yet.

Wait, so I would have to take the filter out and replace it with what? Can I even do this myself? Where is there a NOOB tutorial in changing filters? what is a good filter that won't foul the MAF and my gas mileage?

You can revert to the OEM intake which has a dry paper filter element. However, if you don't over oil the K&N element, you may not have a problem. Check your MAF/IAT sensor unit periodically to see if it is clear of oil. See the shop manual for the location of that sensor.

So I should change the entire Intake? I did some research and I read that the Revi Intake is best for the rx8, is this true? Is it worth 300 and osmething bucks to buy it and another 100 to install it?

Can't I just let the K&N Intake and filter stay there? What will be the downside?

$300+ for something that adds so little... i'd rather spend that on AF/RP shifter and stick with stock air intake. i took out the panels inside the box though.

yea, I think imma go with cleaning the MAF. I like the sound of the K&N and have no patience to replace it for 300 bucks!. I can't find the stock intake either, which means i'm pretty much screwed...

Have any of you replaced the stock CD player with a 6-disc changer?
