Oil Change recommended?

I dont drive my car during the winter here in South Dakota. Its been sitting in a constant 60 degree heated garage for about the past 5-6 months. The weather is getting nice again and about ready to get it out again for spring and summer. The last time I had my oil changed was Septemberish. Bascially right before it got cold out. I think I only put on 1000 miles (not even) before I had to put it away for the winter. Would you recommend an oil change, before I get it out for the summer? Or do you think Its fine driving? I checked the oil level it seems fine. Maybe a top off?

yes I know I shouldntve gotten a change right before I put it away for the winter. But in SD you never know when the cold is going to hit. Last year it was nice and was able to drive it well into Decemeber.

Now that I'm retired and not driving 4K a month as I did on my other rotaries I change it every 4-6 months. I have never had to add any just had it and the filter changed when it gets near the add mark.

Change it. Its 3 months/3K miles for a reason, the additive package in the oil starts to breakdown after time.

^+1..........why take the chance? Change it and the filter.
To me, it's simply not worth the risk......no matter how small that may be.

Yes, and that reason is the marketing by oil change places.
I don't think there is any single car manufacturer that has the same requirement in the maintenance schedule. This 3 months / 3K miles bullshit was planted in the common mind by those places that profit from it.
Just go by what the car's maintenance schedule says.
