Lflash Mflash - how do i know?
So, i'm new to this. Please don't bash me. What is the Lflash, and the Mflash. I understand that the cz stage 1.1 works better with the Lflash?
My main questions is, how do i know if i got the Lflash or the Mflash? Or is that a stupid question? I have no idea what this is.
And for you "technicians," the cz 1.1 decreases the life of the cat. I have a borla exhaust installed. Does it have a cat? And anyone- what will be my likely hp gains from this cz1.1 and the borla exhaust?
Help me please!!

The twenty pump test will tell you if you have L or M (maybe later as they come out). The twenty pump test is likely in the forum somewhere, you will find it if you look.
The almost for-sure way to know is to take it to the dealer and ask. The TSB says to update all RX-8's

i'm still a bit confused. I search, but there are too many threads, and i'm a student so i dont' have soo much time to browse. As for the mods, when i first got the car, i was on cardomain, and i saw speed racer's or Roy's Mazda's webpage. It had a picture of the borla exhaust on it, and it shot flames out. I thought it was cool. As for the hp, i didn't really care, but the borla exhaust gave out such a nice deep groaning noise (non-sexual i might add.. haha). THe Borla sounds great, so i ended up getting it. And now, based on this forum, i'm on my way to getting a CZ stage 1.1. But i Don't know whether or not i have either the M or L flash. Can i just go to a service station (mazda's), and ask if i have the M or L flash?

ALso note:
when i start the car at 35-40F weather, it takes about 2full sec to ignite. Then, when my car starts, it idles at 2000rpm's, then drops to 1500rpms in about 1min... then stays there. When i drive the car, it stays at about 800-1000rpms at idle when the car has been driven for about 5min.
Also, i did the 20pump brake test. It does nothing. I tapped it for 20x, then stepped on it all the way for 20x, in under 8sec, and under both tests, it did nothing... What is wrong?

You have a car with:
- a new engine design
- a new chassis, body, etc
- with modifications
You also have detailed technical questions.
IMO, this may not fit well with:

I spent 3 months on this web site and other places before I bought my RX-8, I probably had 100s of hours into research before buying the car. Its different than other cars and its new a design.
If you did the 20 pump test right, and the needle didn't move, you don' t have L or M.
A Mazda dealer can tell which flash you have.
You have a car with:
- a new engine design

my dealer did not know which flash i had. He said, make an appointment so we can reflash your PCM. so i have scheduled an appointment. The mod's aren't all that big. just exhaust.

jaehyun127, tELL YOUR DEALER TO DO THE LATEST pcm FLASH..........THE M FLASH. tHAT WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR IDLING ERRATICALLY. MINE DID THE SAME THING TILL I GOT THE M FLASH THIS MORNING.

tell you guys one thing. the same day I got the m flash my car idled worse than ever. It felt llike I had put soem aviation fuel in the damn thing. No I idle better than pre-m and it was well worth it. i guess the ecu had to adjust.
