CA Lease ending soon...

I am currently driving my 2006 RX8 GT AT. My lease is up in May of 2009 and I am wondering if anyone has any information what the 2010 RX8 will be like. Will they be putting the 16X renesis engine in it or are they sticking with the old 1.3 L engine? I really love my '06 and I don't see any reason to switch it out if there are no major changes. Personally I hate what they have done to the exterior of the '09. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

2010 will probably be exact same as the 2009. Definitely no new engine.

That is unfortunate...I will most likely buy out the lease then and keep the car. mine is a phantom blue as well! Not looking for anything else, I would rather keep it and wait to see what Mazda has planned for their 16X engine.

But it is an AT?! Unless it's a happy typo.

Good choice. Buy out the lease and wait until 2012 for the new Rotory.

Leasing and buying out is the worst way to get a car. Dealers just love it.

I'd look around at other cars (other used 8's even) before buying out the lease.

Indeed, especially since they have probably been run into the ground from someone else.

Just wondering what is your payoff when your lease runs out ?

My payoff is around 12K and my 8 is in pristine condition. I have already spoken to the dealership because they wanted to put me in a new RX, but I already told them I wasn't interested. They are very willing to negotiate the buyout of the car. I am sure I could get them down to 10K easy.

dealers don't want more cars on their lots right now.. they'll go pretty low before wanting to take it back.

Yep , my lease runs out next year about this time , and the payoff will be 10,000 . I check on that , I also plan on keeping it . I dont expect Mazda to come with nothing new so I'll pay off what's left and get another car. Did the dealer contact you first or did you contact them? I dont plan on telling them I'm keeping it so to see if they would lower it.

Keep us updated.

The dealership actually contacted me about 3 months ago trying to talk me into getting out of my lease early and into a new car.
