No more 2011 production of LHD, no more shipments, no more ad promotion.
The Mazda plug is pulled and those of you wanting a new one will have to find em on dealer lots. How long will we wait for the next rotary vehicle ?
How reliable is the source? The main reason I'm asking is that I'd like to buy an 8, but I really wanted to wait a few months to save up some more cash. However, I don't want to get stuck and not get the car I want. You can PM me if you prefer.

I wonder if some of the parts haven't been going out of supply from the assembly line for a while. I test drove a 2011 Sport in February (just off the truck, they told me), and the shift **** was a rather plain looking thing instead of the usual rotor-inspired triangular version.

Something's wrong with their car.
The 2011 Sport I just bought 2 Saturdays ago shows a build date of 1/2011 on the door sticker, and it has the rotor gear shift ****.

In fact, my car just arrived to the dealer on the Wednesday before I bought it.
I saw that it was in my dealer's allotment the Saturday before it arrived when I was looking on Cars.com for inventory in the surrounding states.

So my car was built, along with all the ones that are on dealer lots right now, were built before the earthquake and Tsunami hit Japan.

BC.

I am just looking forward to getting a hold of the supercharged 16X and possibly doing an engine swap. Thats what I am saving up for at the moment.

I'm planning to by a new R3. Since we don't know for certain what's up with 2012, I've been keeping a close eye on the 2011's. Ideally, I'd like to wait until later in the year, which gives me time to save up some more cash. I technically can afford the car now, but waiting would make the monthly payment a bit nicer. Of course, I don't want to wait too long and not get an RX-8 at all...

I'm pretty sure it's official that there will be no 2012 model, and there are always deals to be had on new 8's.

We got word this weekend that they will be releasing the new RX8 in 2013. At the 3 sisters run we had someone who was a rep from Mazda tell us they are working on the new RX8 and it is looking to be released sometime in 2013.

Yea this news give s a good and bad feeling. Just puts rotary's in an even more riskier position.

There will probably still be new 2011's lingering at dealerships for another year or two.

I've heard that a lot on this forum, but I have searched in many places (even contacted Mazda directly) and as far as I can tell there is no official word one way or the other.
