Keyring for RX-8 Key

Where can I find a key ring that will accept the RX-8 key? I can't attach the key to standard (round) keyrings. Routing a keyring through the key seems quite difficult.

Does anyone else have that problem?

I had the same problem, but when i brought my car in for an oil change , i guess they needed to hang the key so they put one in.

I am not sure if this is what you are talking about, or if you want a key change.

Well anyways it has to be thin, and flexible

Get the AutoArt Rotary, definitely the best...

I have one like the no.4 pic shown by Eye, and its a bitch to turn, and almost impossible to explain anything to anybody with that.

The AutoArt has a turning mechanism behind, so you rotate your fingers behind and see the rotor rotate smoothly in the accurately modelled epitrochoid case like its supposed to.

Id say its a must accessory

Give us a link on where you got that keyring. That is perfect for what you talked about; I want one!

Why not leave the little ring that came with it attached and feed the new one through that? This has the added advantage of reducing the stress on the key fob (very expensive if lost/broken).

Although I realize most of the keyrings pictured here are already quite flexible, if you have a rigid joint between the key fob and the ring, it will be prone to breakage. I learned this the hard way after my wife broke her remote fob for her car by attaching it directly to her main keyring.

This thread inspired me to finally go and find an official keychain of some sort for my wad of keys. Ended up going with the two sided rotary steel cable keychain from rotary13b1.com...I figure if I ever swapped cars, I could still use the keychain as a cool looking keychain rather than have it forever engraved with "RX-8". Got it today, and man I must say, the quality of this thing is very good. It's quite small, smaller than I was expecting, and yet it's very detailed, and the metal its made out of feels excellent, absoutely no cheap "Made in China" feel to it. It's currently on sale for $10 at rotary13b1.com...it's a no brainer to get one. I'm tempted to get another one like it, but with the "RX-8" on one side. I've also always wanted to get a rotating rotary keychain to hang on the rear view mirror, that AutoArt one is perfect. Will have to get one of those eventually for sure.

woops sorry guys havent checked the forums lately.
Thanks for helping posting the link Eye.

I thought AutoArt stores are everywhere. They sell die cast models mainly.

Their official site is at www.autoartmodels.com, tons of unique accessories too.
Their online store is at www.aa-collection.com which you can access from the main site also.
Specifically for the rotary keychain
http://www.aa-collection.com/cgi-bin...ing/40571.html

Price dropped I noticed, only 5.95 now, I bought it for like 20 bucks in a local store.
And still worth every penny, I love turning it! Ive seen lots of animated gifs of the rotary engine moving, but nothing beats turning one yourself and really see it in action.

I just use the leather key fob that the dealership supplied because it can lay flat across the '05 key and prevent inadvertent presses of the buttons. It's also the only key on that fob.

My other keychain has my home, store, and RX8 valet key with the rotating rotary fob to display & explain what a rotary is.

I always use 2 keychains, one for just the car key and one for all the others, including a 2nd car key. It lets me lock the car while running and also prevents locking yourself out of your car.

Chris...

The dealer gave me two little rings and two larger ones and explained (even though it was obvious) that you use the small rings on the "switchblade" key and then use the larger ring to attach any other keys or fobs. I assumed that came from Mazda like that, but it may have been something my dealer did for RX-8 owners?

mine looked the same. I took the big ring off, took the leather/metal keyfob apart so its just the metal part....engraved my name on the back and attached it to the small metal ring, and then added my piston to the small metal ring....very compact and neat looking. I have a sperate set of keys for work...I dont have a house key. I just close the garage (homelink) i know its not that safe but whatever....
