Keyless Entry Remote Programming- 2004 RX8
I just purchased my first RX8 a couple weeks ago from a private seller. He neglected to include the keyless entry remote. I bought one online for A LOT less than the dealer price and attempted to program following the instructions. The remote will not respond.
The remote specs are:
Model: 41848
FCC ID: KPU41805
IC: 4238A-12076
TW: 91LP0424
My RX8 Specs:
2004 RX8 Grand Touring, sport package. Has keyless entry, no remote. Manufactured- 07/03.
I heard that there are 2 remotes for the 2004. For RX's made after June 03, its the "B" remote (which I thought this one was). I haven't been able to get a straight answer about it though....anyone have any tips or ideas?
Thanks!

Background: I also have an 04. I'm having a similar issue, except my keyfobs just stopped working one day.
I was told by the local mazda dealer it was b/c my keyfobs are dead, so i bought a new one from ItTransponder.com....so now i have three keyfobs. Tried to do the program and no go...reason...you can have up to three remotes working at one time, BUT cannot add a new keyfob without one currently working. Since you have none you will not be able to program the remote on your own.
So the only way for you to get it programmed is to take it your local mazda dealer.

DirkaDirka26 and Shawnpmagee, if you would have kindly used the "SEARCH" and looked into the links below this thread; it would have answered what you two have speculated. Here is the link you should read and you will find others with the same problem and what alternative to take besides going to the dealer.

don't be dumb,
google is a search engine, google.com is not a great website
google gives you websites which are not always trustworthy and the ebay items are not always genuine, If you have bought one and works perfectly I would like to know where you got it from
thank you

I've always bought items from eBay, you just have to have the eye and a good sense of judgement as a buyer. Below is the key FOB switch blade I bought for $28. As I mentioned in my first post, read the linked thread so you can figure out the right FOB for your car.

I cant seem to make a new thread so i apologize if this post is misplaced.
I was given a key fob when i bought my car last year. its never worked for me or the previous owner. it clearly has been through some use. So i bought a new remote and it too will not program. So i checked the voltage to the receiver and they are correct and the actual receiver looks well; no broken solder or anything. at this point im not really sure what the next step would be. i was thinking of finding a new receiver to test to make sure that wasnt the issue but maybe there is something im missing. any input is much appreciated. thank you.

If you have not done so already, there are threads in the DIY section that may have the answers you seek.
