Keyless entry intermittent problem

I searched but I can't find this specific problem. When I push the trunk button on my remote the red light flashes, but it only sometimes opens my trunk. The button in the cockpit works fine and all my door buttons work and I can roll my windows down. Is this a sign of the batteries going low?

My car is 6 yrs older than yours, but sometimes I have to hold my button down for a second or two before it pops open.

I know, I know... I was just hoping someone had been through the same thing.

Yeah, my 2010 R3 is like this. Often the first time I press and hold the trunk button it doesn't work. Consecutive press+holds do.

It finally got to the point that I couldn't start the car... so I finally changed the battery. Works perfect. So.. from now on when my trunk starts acting weird I will change the battery.

Lucky you it was only the battery.

When mine was acting out - even after replacing the batteries - the local dealer found out the actual module was shot. The whole thing with labor was close to $500 They replaced the module - I have no idea where that part is in the car - plus gave me two new keyless entry cards.

Lucky me it was replaced under warranty.
